About us
We’re a business that understands when our customers and people succeed, our communities succeed, and our economy thrives. As part of our purpose, we’re looking at how we can drive change for our communities in enterprise, learning and climate. As one of the leading supporters of UK business, we’re prioritising enterprise as a force of change. We’re focusing on the people and communities who have traditionally faced the highest barriers to entry and figuring out ways to remove these. Learning is also key to our continued growth as a company in an ever changing and increasingly digital world. By setting a dynamic and leading learning culture, our people prosper, and our customers are given the tools to continue to improve their financial capability and confidence. One of the biggest challenges we all face in our future is climate change. That’s why we’ve put it right at the core of our purpose. We want to champion climate solutions with financing and entrepreneurial support, fully embed climate into our culture and decision making, and be climate positive by 2025. We’re committed to using our purpose to break down barriers, drive change and ultimately create a great place to work.

We’re committed to boosting house building through a strong pipeline of lending to the sector, and today’s update on our £5bn lending ambition, announced in March this year, shows we’re making progress. This progress means we’ve been able to support even more delivery and maintenance of housing within the sector, which is vital to the people and families who rely on social housing, as well as the wider economy. We're working with Meta to expand a first-of-its-kind partnership to help protect people against fraud. The Fraud Intelligence Reciprocal Exchange (FIRE) is a threat intelligence sharing programme for financial institutions, allowing banks to share intelligence with Meta directly so Meta can use it to stop scammers and protect people. After being one of two banks involved in the pilot phase of the programme, which led to thousands of social media accounts run by scammers taken down, we welcome its wider rollout across the industry. Swipe below to read more from our CEO of Retail banking David Lindberg on the importance of cross-industry collaboration. More here: https://lnkd.in/gmFeGibz

How can the private sector and the government help UK housing? We partnered with New Statesman on a panel at the #LabourConference to explore the possibilities. Lloyd Cochrane, Head of Mortgages, joined Mayor of Greater Manchester Andy Burnham, Home Builders Federation's David O'Leary, Places for People's Branwen Evans and New Statesman's Rachel Cunliffe. Together we discussed how the right housing can be built in the right places, helping to meet demand in an effective and sustainable way. Lloyd Cochrane shared his views on NatWest Group’s role: “The housing sector is complex and we support it at every stage, from the construction sector and social housing through to consumers in the form of mortgage lending. We aim to help our customers meet their goals through providing funding for them, as well as using our scale and network across the bank to work with a range of partners across the public and private sector, to develop new and innovative forms of support to drive change.” #LabourConference2024 #Housing
