Please help us to help as many people as possible obtain vital protection for themselves, by donating whatever you can. It will not be a Happy Christmas this year for thousands of people experiencing domestic abuse and violence. The New Year will see many people flee abusive homes and relationships. Every single £1 will go to helping those who cannot, for whatever reason, obtain legal aid. You'll find a link to donate in the comments. Thank you.

An interesting article on why victims are all to often blamed with a focus on what "they" did wrong: https://lnkd.in/eRpURbSw #gaslighting #domesticabuseawareness #abuse

Happy International Women’s Day to women around the world, from everyone at NCDV. 'International Women’s Day isn’t just about celebrating the achievements of women; It originates from the long struggle for labour and voting rights. Although the situation has significantly improved over recent years and there is more representation in decision-making groups and in the boardroom, there is a long way to go before women have full equality. In reality, there is a gender pay gap and women are underrepresented in leadership roles, politics and other fields. In some parts of the world, women have few rights compared to men. In addition, women experience more physical violence, sexual assault, forced marriage, honour-based violence, sex trafficking, female genital mutilation and war rape. Keeping the origins of International Women’s Day in mind helps us remember that radical change is still needed.' NCDV - National Centre For Domestic Violence reposted this
I'm busy enjoying myself in Paris at the moment so I'm posting early for IWD 🩷 Whilst all women from all over the world are in my thoughts tonight, I'd like to pay homage to one woman in particular, my colleague at NCDV - National Centre For Domestic Violence and partner in crime, Sharon Bryan. Sharon has overcome much in her life, but in the last 2 years she has overcome hurdles that would floor most humans and probably most elephants. I've genuinely never known such strength and tenacity to keep going, keep upbeat and keep putting victims first 💪🏼 Sharon, you've taught me a lot about courage and I'm proud to work with you. Happy International Women's Day 🫶🏼
