About us

Nice and Serious makes creative work the world needs. We're a creative agency crafting award-winning brands, campaigns and content for purpose-driven businesses like innocent, Ben & Jerry’s, IKEA, Unilever and Co-op. Creativity has the remarkable power to create change. But all too often, it’s used to fuel false needs and fake desires. We believe it’s time for better – to turn that very power into positive impact. Since 2008, we’ve led by taking action – and inspired others to do the same. This means being honest about what the world really needs, by creating work with social and environmental impact. As a purpose-driven creative agency, we’re here to change minds and push people to demand better. And with our mix of thinkers, creators and makers, we’ve got the team to do it. From branding and campaigns to content, if your project’s getting the world what it needs, you’ve got us. Let's talk. hello@niceandserious.com

Updates

  • The first ever Nice and Serious project was to create a film about sustainability, using creativity to make a complex issue more engaging. 16 years on, this mission still drives us - to create content which tells the stories that matter. Our latest Film and Animation showreel celebrates some of our work we’ve been most proud of from the last year. Check it out below👇

  • Becoming a B Corp isn’t just a badge you slap on your website  - it’s a commitment to real impact, not performative purpose. Too many agencies claim to be “purpose-driven” while still working with destructive industries. B Corp sets a higher bar, pushing businesses to improve. Five years ago, we earned our certification. Two years ago, we re-certified. Next year, we’ll do it again. So, this #BCorpMonth we want to share what we’ve learned along the way for anyone else considering the journey. ➝ It takes time. You’ll need to invest a significant amount of time, with a connected team and plenty of patience. ➝ Get the whole team involved. It’s a collective effort. Every part of your business will require involvement, so it’s not something that companies can throw money at to outsource or ‘buy’. ➝ Document everything. Good intentions don’t count if they’re not official. All of your commitments have to be documented, and a third-party assessor checks everything before you get certified. ➝ Learn from the process. In 2016, we scored 50/200 on the B Corp assessment (you need 80 to pass). So we improved, reapplied in 2019, and got certified in 2020. ➝ Use the tools. The B Impact Assessment is totally free, and it’s a really useful framework to assess your agency, even if you don't decide to apply for certification. If you're thinking about taking the leap, go for it. It’s worth it. #BCorpMonth2025

  • Women and girls face sexual harassment from men and boys every single day. But this abuse is often seen as an inevitable part of life because of deeply rooted misogynistic attitudes towards women and girls. To mark International Women’s Day this week, we’re reflecting on our film ‘Through Her Eyes’ with Southwark Council, where the message remains as urgent as ever. We need more men and boys to see life 'through a girl’s eyes', because once they see what it means and feels like to experience sexual harassment every day, they can help stop it. Since its release, the film has amassed over 450k views, been endorsed by Mayor of London Sadiq Khan, screened at Peckhamplex, as well as in schools and youth clubs across the country. #InternationalWomensDay #IWD2025

  • The issues charities face are complex. But centring your communications around complex issues can often result in convoluted communications that fail to speak to mass audiences. We’ll be at the CharityComms Strategic Communicators conference, where Tom Tapper will share tips, tricks and examples to help you re-orientate your communications to your audience to simplify and amplify your message. You'll leave with a practical creative framework to take back to your organisation. The event takes place via zoom on 30th April. Book your tickets here👇 https://lnkd.in/e85htgcP

In our latest blog, Yumna Matar from Nice and Serious discusses how to help your comms connect with a global audience with these 7 T’s: 1. Talk about translation needs for the project upfront: This helps prepare for future opportunities and limitations when designing logos and assets. 2. Transcreation vs Translation: In some instances, a creative or copy cannot be perfectly translated into every language  3. Turns of phrase aren’t globally recognised: Some common sayings and wordplay do not translate well and can lose context or exclude audiences 4. Text needs space to breathe in every language: Allowing for blank space in every design is a must 5. Tried and tested fonts are your friend: Many fonts are now designed with global comms in mind.   6. Two sets of eyes are better than one: It’s good practice to rely on others to quality-check your work 7. Tracking the translation process is key: Keeping the translation phase organised is key to a successful final delivery, ensuring accuracy and decreasing errors.  Discover more insights and real-world examples here:   https://lnkd.in/e2mnsNfG

  • We’ve said no to single-use plastics like bags, straws, and cotton buds, but balloons are still getting a free pass. Why? Their association with fun and celebration may have given balloons a pass, but the truth is, their environmental impact is harmful to people, animals, and the planet So, how do we shift perceptions of this iconic symbol of celebration? In Ban The Balloon, our Senior Strategist Zoë Gibson Quirk outlines the 6 key steps in behaviour change communications to help transform public attitudes and inspire action. 🎈 Read the article below 👇 https://lnkd.in/eRdUNcz6

  • How do you create a brand that encourages more people to connect with nature? As 2025 begins, we’re revisiting one of our favourite rebrands to date for the National Landscapes Association. We developed the brand around the idea of National Landscapes representing the fabric of us – a living patchwork, where each square is as essential and unique as each of us. The new, inclusive brand invites all people to find their own connection with these special landscapes and help unlock their full potential in the fight against climate change and biodiversity loss. If you’re hoping to kick off the new year with a new brand – get in touch!

  • Outside of her work as Film Director at Nice and Serious, Serafima Serafimova creates rotoscope animated shorts in her spare time. Her series ‘More Than Words’ celebrates words and phrases that don’t exist in the English language. To mark #WorldArabicLanguageDay, Episode 3 features Yumna Matar, our Project Manager, who explains the meaning of the phrase 'خمسة وخميسه في عين الحسود' (khamsat wakhamisuh fi eayn alhasud) - which literally translates to 'five in the eye of the envious'.  ↓ Watch the animation below ↓
