About us

Northern Ireland Chest Heart & Stroke provides expert care and support to anyone at risk of or currently living with chest, heart and stroke conditions. We also fund local ground-breaking research into better treatments, care and prevention. Working with people of all ages across the province, we’ve been delivering our services since 1946, carrying out extensive research into how to prevent these conditions, alongside ‘on the ground’ support. As a charity, almost 90% of our work is funded thanks to donations from the public.

  • Scary stats... 😱 We believe it’s vital that more people are aware of heart failure, what it is, and it's symptoms. ❤️ The most common symptoms of heart failure are: 🔴 Breathlessness 🔴 Exhaustion 🔴 Swollen ankles 📣 If you have any of these symptoms, get it checked by your GP. ⚠️ Just like with many cancers, catching heart failure early is important as the sooner it is diagnosed, the sooner you can start the right treatment for you. • You soon might not be seeing the golden arches or the colonel on your TV before 9pm!🍟🍕🍔🌭 The government have announced a ban on junk food adverts being shown on TV before 9pm, and a total ban on paid-for online adverts, will come into force from October 2025. With 1 in 5 children aged 2 to 15 in NI being obese, we're supportive of plans to ban the marketing of junk food on TV before 9pm. We believe it will help protect children & young people & empower them to make healthier food choices. What do you think about this ban? Let us know in the comments ⬇️
