Saving Norfolk's wildlife for the future.
About us
Norfolk Wildlife Trust was established in 1926 and now manages over 60 nature reserves and other protected sites around the county including ten kilometres of coastline, nine Norfolk broads, nine National Nature Reserves and five ancient woodlands. We seek a sustainable environment for people and wildlife: where the future of wildlife is protected and enhanced through sympathetic management; and people are connected with and inspired by Norfolk's wildlife and wild spaces.

Our urban reserve manager, Matt, putting Aviva to WORK last week restoring an area of open water 😰💪 Clearing ditches by hand can be a bit of a slog but it creates lots of great scruffy microhabitats that machines just can't! We hope they come back again 😅

Help us, help wildlife! 🤝 We're on the lookout for new trustees. Baily Tait joined us last year, "The board is full of accomplished & knowledgeable people but my favourite thing about our meetings is that you can ask absolutely anything. No question is too small." Find out what this role can offer you: https://lnkd.in/emCcJRKX 🔗

We're seeking a new Chair to lead our Council of Trustees 🪑 This is a fantastic opportunity, but don't just take our word for it. Alice Liddle, who is leaving us after 9 years as Chair (we'll miss her!🥹), has said, 👇 "It has been so rewarding working with skilled, committed and forward-looking NWT people and NWT trustees. I am so proud of our vision of 'A Wilder Norfolk for All' and my part in working to achieve it" 💚 Closing date: 14/02/2025 💼 https://lnkd.in/d_fjmSRr Nick Appleton 📸

Nature is not blocking growth 🙄 Healthy ecosystems provide stability for businesses, reducing risks like flooding & drought. It is the very bedrock upon which the economy is built. Growth can & must be sustainable, let's put nature at the HEART of our decision-making 🤝 Read our blog post by our Chief Executive Officer, Eliot: https://lnkd.in/ew4HQp2n

Thanks so much for your hard work and support! 💪💚
Day two of our green space volunteering continued the hard work of yesterday's team. Our volunteers were busy digging, planting, bulbing and staining our memorial benches to help bring the project to life. With 18 volunteers giving up their time across the last few days, we are excited to continue building up and creating a thriving biodiverse green space at our global head office in Diss. A huge thank you to Norfolk Wildlife Trust for their support and in particular Ella Warren-Cooke and James Hogg for making the last two days possible. Thanks to today's volunteers - Georgia Edwards Ian Mulry Joanne Cocks Bex Moore Emma Bryant Lily Loveridge Sharna McHardy dee antoniades Rebecca Kinsey We look forward to seeing how our green space will evolve in 2025 🌿🌱 This project aligns with our commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) no.3 ( good health and well-being) and no.15 (life on land). #Sustainability #Teamwork #NorfolkWildlifeTrust

We need to take a moment to appreciate this Norfolk Wildlife Trust legend...🤚 Gemma Walker is our Wilder Communities Manager. She's just won the Wildlife Trusts' Unsung Hero Award for her 20 years of dedication to bringing Norfolk communities closer to nature 👏👏👏 She's been a true inspiration, delivering hundreds of talks and guided walks. She played a key role in our Nextdoor Nature project, contributed to the development of Sweet Briar Marshes, and was the genius behind our popular Wilder Community workshop programme. We love her to bits & are proud as punch. Go Gemma! 💚🥂

We're celebrating 30 years of National Lottery player funding of loads of incredible wildlife-saving projects 🤞🥂 #ThanksToYou, we've uncovered buried pingo ponds at Watering farm, brought local communities together to act for nature in their area, and supported communities and landowners to improve the connectivity of wildlife habitats across key parts of South Norfolk - to name just a few!
