On this day, 170 years ago, Queen Victoria visited Grimsby! 👑 On 14 October 1854, Queen Victoria along with Prince Albert, the Princess Royal and Prince Alfred, crossed the Humber from Hull in the Royal Yacht to officially open a new dock in Grimsby. This new dock was named the Royal Dock in honour of the visit. They also visited the Dock Tower and took a carriage ride along Loft Street, which was later renamed to Victoria Street to mark the occasion. Thank you to LINCS INSPIRE LIMITED, Grimsby Local History Library for the information and poster.

About us
North East Lincolnshire Council is centrally located on the east coast of the UK on the banks of the river Humber, the UK's energy estuary. Our area includes the towns of: - Grimsby – synonymous with the food industry and the growing renewable energy sector - Cleethorpes – known for its miles of sandy beaches, historic pier and family-friendly activities. - Immingham – a major business location with the UK’s largest port by tonnage. Amazing to see! 👏
We get knocked down...so we get up again!! Sunday 13th Oct was the day the good people of Grimsby took part in the big re-plant at Alexandra Dock. A summer long planting scheme by local children had been ripped out by one cold hearted couple ( yes a man & a woman ) but they don't get the last word...we do! Projekt Renewable GY and The Crown Estate brought together our team of Avengers and sorted the job out! Massive thanks to everyone who leaned in to help today and of course to the 30+ children who did the planting again! Joanne Lord James Elliott Hannah Woods

Meet Anthony Douglas CBE, Children’s Services Commissioner. Anthony is a government-appointed, independent voice. His role is to oversee the improvement of Children’s Services in North East Lincolnshire and to support that improvement work as well as making sure it happens. We asked Anthony to give his thoughts on why more and more social workers are joining North East Lincolnshire Council. Here’s what he had to say: “I think it's an environment in which practitioners can come and practice safely and learn and be supported - and that's gold dust.” If you want to make a lasting difference to the lives of children and families in North East Lincolnshire, we’d love to hear from you. This week has been #KinshipCareWeek! 💛 It's an opportunity to celebrate the incredible role that #KinshipCarers play in children’s lives and society. This year, the theme of Kinship Care Week was #ThisIsKinshipCare. Anyone at anytime could become a kinship carer – stepping up to raise the child of a family member or friend and it's important to ensure people in the wider community understand what Kinship Care is. 🌍 At North East Lincolnshire Council we've been celebrating our Kinship Carers all week! There was a coffee morning at our fostering friendly business, The Oaklands. Local businesses got behind the celebration by offering discounts to our Kinship families. Ross Castle and the Grimsby Minster was awash with Kinship Yellow and we have been sharing some local Kinship stories across our social media channels. We hope to raise awareness and to celebrate the amazing Kinship Carer's in our area! 🙌 Thank you to our amazing families who let us share their stories this week and to our incredible social workers who work closely day in and day out to ensure they feel supported! 💫 https://lnkd.in/gf5rxJPr
