Looking back at wonderful week at the IAC2024 we are happy to say that NottSpace had a highly productive conference, featuring several presented papers and numerous new collaboration opportunities. During the event, our graduate student, Kuang Sun, delivered an impressive presentation on “IDeT-Sat: A CubeSat Design for Space Debris Detection and Analysis,” highlighting their significant success in the competition. Our PhD student, Sedat Izcan, gave a talk on “Teleoperated Astropharmaceutical Payload for Long-Duration Space Missions: Project VITA!”. Another PhD student, Luis Cormier, presented two posters of papers titled “JamSail: A CubeSat Demonstration Mission for GNSS Interference Mapping” and “Alternative Orbits for Improving Lunar Navigation Services”. Dr.Nishanth Pushparaj delivered a talk on “Cubesats for Contrail Monitoring and Environmental Impact Reduction”. Additionally, Dr.Chantal Cappelletti participated in "Space for Climate Action: Monitoring, Adaptation, and Mitigation" and "Low cost highly autonomous (AI) small satellite constellation for deep space exploration" study groups within the International Academy of Astronautics. We are excited to share that IAC2024 is just the beginning of upcoming plans and projects for the NottSpace group, so stay tuned for more updates. We look forward to seeing you all in Sydney. #IAC2024

Post-graduate students and lecturers from the University of Nottingham have helped to support the European Space Agency (ESA) during the launch of their Young Professional’s Satellite, YPSat, using the monitoring ground station in the heart of University Park campus. The NottSpace Lab provided ground station support for the mission, with advanced capabilities enabling students to receive signals from the satellite, which was launched onboard the maiden flight of Ariane 6 on 9 July. We have our pictures from Orbit! 🚀 The YPSAT, our Young Professional Satellite made by our ESA Young Professionals, launched aboard the #Ariane6 last night, and we are excited to share the pictures from orbit, alongside the video of the fairing separation of the Ariane 6 🛰️ The #YPSAT mission has finished with taking breathtaking pictures of our blue planet from above, which was only made possible by the unique Wake-Up System created by the young professionals. With teams actively participating in the launch in the Mission Control Room at ESA #ESOC and decoding in the labs of ESA #ESTEC, the pictures are truly out of this world! 🌌✨ Not only did YPSAT record the main milestones of the #Ariane6 maiden flight, thanks to the @OSCAR-QUBE, the mission also succeeded in its scientific goal, capturing the earth's magnetic field throughout the atmosphere. We want to give a huge thank you to our other partners Scanway, EnduroSat, AMSAT-EA, and the many ground stations that supported us through the night 🕺 #ESA #SpaceTeamEurope #Ariane6 #YPSAT

Proud to have contributed from the University of Nottingham to support ESA YPSAT mission!
📡✨ A huge thank you to our Ground Station Network for the success of the ESA YPSat mission We can't believe it's been a week since our YPSat went to space ! We are sure you all have seen the amazing photos and videos from orbit, but the ESA YPSat mission wouldn't have been a success without the great support of our dedicated ground station network across Europe and South America 🌍 We are incredibly grateful to AMSAT-DL, University of Nottingham, Tartu Observatory, VIRAC, European Space Agency - ESA ESEC Redu, University of Vaasa, University of Stuttgart, DTU - Technical University of Denmark, Astralintu Space Technologies, IW1DTU Turin and University of Bologna (Alma Mater Studiorum – Università di Bologna) for their crucial role in receiving YPSAT signal. Their tireless efforts ensured we could collect beautiful images from the ballast of the Ariane 6 inaugural flight. A special thanks goes out to the following individuals who played a vital role: 👉 AMSAT-DL: Peter Gülzow 👉 University of Nottingham: Chantal Cappelletti, Nishanth Pushparaj, Luis Cormier 👉 Tartu Observatory: Viljo Allik 👉 Turin IW1DTU - Callsign Lookup by QRZ Ham Radio: Ferruccio Andrea Paglia 👉 VIRAC : Mārcis Donerblics, Roberts Rasmanis, Artūrs Orbidāns, Mārcis Bleiders 👉 ESA ESEC: René Wittmann, Eric Martin 👉 University of Vasaa: Jaako Yliaho 👉 University of Stuttgart: Robin Schweigert, Sabine Klinkner 👉 Technical University of Denmark: René Fléron, Hans Henrik Løvengreen 👉 Astralintu: Juan Jaramillo, Matías Campos Abad 👉 Microsatellites and Space Microsystems Laboratory of the Alma Mater Studiorum – Università di Bologna: Giacomo Paialunga, Dario Modenini Thank you once again to all the ground station teams for your invaluable support!
