  • 🚶 33.65 MILLION steps! 🚶♀️ That was the combined total achieved by Novans who took part in our Steps Challenge over the past three months. We hit our intended goal of walking the distance between our UK office in #Bristol, UK, to our headquarters in #Adelaide, Australia, (via our key locations Shannon, Stavanger and Singapore), and did so with a few million steps to spare. The Steps Challenge is about encouraging our people to prioritise their health and wellbeing in a way that’s both accessible, fun and a little bit competitive. Congratulations to Team Brennan on winning the "Golden Boot", showing that when a team comes together, anything is possible! They managed to gather momentum towards the latter end of the competition and overtook Team Gareth at the final hurdle. A huge well done to Gary Deakin for taking the overall individual title, with a special mention to Fraser Anderson and Ryan Tonkin for taking the silver and bronze medals. Project Management Consultant and Steps Challenge organiser Juliette Williams said: "My thanks again to everyone at NSI for getting involved, for taking the time to focus on their health and for celebrating this milestone! It was great to see a healthy dose of team spirit and camaraderie (and a little competitive chit chat) towards the end too. It’s what makes the effort in organising worthwhile.” #WeAreNova #StepsChallenge #MentalHealth

  • Nova's Employee Conference has been part of the culture since the company began more than two decades ago. The Nova Systems International team recently came together in the magisterial surrounds of Windsor Castle at the Castle Hotel for two days with highlights including: - panel sessions - workshops - project spotlights - Q&A with leaders - product demos - Gala Dinner. With people based around the UK and beyond, plus our people often solving challenges for our clients on sites, it's important to Nova to bring everyone together to connect and align on the company goals. Our annual NovaConnect conference is the embodiment of this ideal – a place where we bring our people together to celebrate our skills, to reward and recognise the fantastic work we’re doing, and to look forward together and meet the challenges of the future, head on. The event was topped off with a scavenger hunt and a sunset boat trip to the amazing Windsor Racecourse, where we hosted our Conference Gala Dinner, featuring cave diving specialist John Volanthen as our keynote speaker. John’s incredible story in the rescue of twelve Children and their Football Coach in the 2018 Tham Luang cave rescue in Thailand was incredibly inspiring. His immense fortitude and bravery reaffirmed the importance not only of critical, lifesaving skills, but of how operators can come together across boundaries, across languages and across cultures for the good of others. To the wonderful staff at the Sutton Hotel’s Castle Hotel, to our Gala Dinner hosts at the Royal Windsor Racecourse, to our photographer at Faith Imagery, to all Novans who attended and made merry, and to Debbie Champion, Abi Mitchell and Emma Balchin for once again organising and delivering such a stand out event – thank you! #WeAreNova #NovaConnect2024

  • 📣 ANNOUNCEMENT 📣 Nova Systems has signed a Teaming Agreement with WholeShip to provide Ship Aircraft Integration and Digital Test and Evaluation (T&E) support at the National Drone Hub. The partnership will deliver a mix of live and digital flight test activities focused on accelerating the development of Uncrewed Air Systems (UAS) technologies. We are especially excited to showcase how the combined digital engineering toolsets can rapidly accelerate the development of UAS/Ship safe operating envelopes, and revolutionise the UAS Ship Air Integration T&E process. Gareth Dyer, Nova Systems International Managing Director, said teaming with WholeShip to deliver on the vision for the National Drone Hub takes the respective capabilities to the next level. “The site offers a unique and safe proving ground for uncrewed platforms which is an expanding area of innovation and development in the defence, security and civil sectors. “Together we will build upon our existing digital T&E toolsets with the ability to rapidly test and assure systems in the real and virtual domains simultaneously. "The result is faster test iteration and capability realisation, without the bureaucracy of using legacy range infrastructure. This is a real step forward for the industry.” Dan Stembridge FRAeS, CEO of WholeShip, said the National Drone Hub’s success was rooted in its strong partnerships with both industry giants and innovative SMEs. “These partnerships have not only enhanced the capabilities of the National Drone Hub, but have also created a vibrant ecosystem where innovation thrives.” Pictured are Gareth and Dan at the DroneX Tradeshow & Conference in London. #WeAreNova #WholeShip #UAS #Drones

  • The 🚶 Nova Systems International Steps Challenge 🚶 continues…and Gary Deakin is STILL in the lead! With the end of the Nova Steps challenge in sight, the teams have ramped up their efforts with even more Novans getting involved. As a team, we have reached our 13-week step target of 21.1 million steps three weeks early. This equates to walking from our UK HQ in Bristol to our partner site in Singapore, via the Nova Shannon and Stavanger offices. As a result of hitting this amazing milestone, we’re spending the last couple of weeks trying to see if our "steppers" can reach our company HQ in Adelaide, Australia – which equates to an extra 7 million steps. "It’s been fantastic to see more people getting involved, embracing what the challenge is all about whilst having a bit of fun as a team,” Juliette Williams , Project Management Consultant and Steps Challenge Lead, said. Will Gary Deakin continue his dominant display at the top of the league? All will be revealed later this month, with the prestigious ‘Golden Boot’ being awarded to the winning team! #WeAreNova #LifeAtNova

  • "It’s great to be a part of a company that literally has the ability to reach the moon!" Our General Manager, Advisory & Professional Services in our Future Business team Bill Dormer reflects on the amazing work of our Nova Systems Australia and New Zealand colleagues on the AROSE Lunar Rover. "We are a key partner in the AROSE consortium and are leading the systems engineering, safety & mission assurance, and integration & test activities for the 20kg Lunar Rover," Bill said. "If the AROSE consortium is down-selected by the Australian Space Agency for this mission, the rover will be launched by NASA and carry a NASA-provided payload and potentially an Australian science payload to advance our understanding of the lunar environment in support of NASA’s endeavours to return to the Moon and onto Mars as part of the Artemis Program." #WeAreNova #Artemis #Space

In a giant leap for Australia’s space industry, the AROSE team Lunar Rover prototype was unveiled in #Canberra today. Weighing just 20kg and measuring the size of a large suitcase, the lunar rover will be operated remotely to collect soil, ice and other samples from the moon’s surface. It has been designed by a team of engineers and scientists from the AROSE consortium, which includes partners Nova Systems, Fugro and many other contributors. Lead engineer, Dr Sarah Cannard, said she was incredibly proud of the team and journey to date. "The dedication, innovation, and collaboration that have brought us to this point are nothing short of extraordinary,” she said. “This rover represents not just a technological achievement but a testament to what we can accomplish together." AROSE CEO Leanne Cunnold said: “Importantly, we’re also inspiring the next generation of Australians to take up STEM subjects at school and university and developing our national space sector workforce.” AROSE is one of two successful teams chosen for Stage 1 of the Australian Space Agency’s flagship Trailblazer program. The Lunar Rover has been developed to collect lunar soil and gain new information about the moon’s surface via a NASA-science payload. This is a critical step to supporting a sustainable human presence on the Moon, Mars and beyond. Nova’s role on this landmark project includes systems engineering, safety assurance, integration and test – including ensuring the lunar rover will survive the severe conditions on the moon. #AROSELunarRover
