Last week we accompanied Oliver Mundell MSP and Nuclear Restoration Services colleagues on a visit to Ayrshire College’s Kilwinning Campus to tour the Willie Mackie Skills Hub. With NRS we’ve provided £499,000 of funding for the hub as part of our commitment to invest in projects that leave a positive legacy in our site communities. We’re pleased to support a facility that is vital to developing the skilled workforce needed for North Ayrshire’s future industries. The students and apprentices are benefiting from an exceptional learning environment, which will serve them well in their careers.

Working with a diverse range of organisations and playing our part in promoting economic growth is important to us. That’s why small and medium enterprises (SMEs) play an important part in the delivery of our mission and account for over a third of our annual supply chain expenditure. Our final award of the week is our ‘best small and medium enterprise’, with the nominees being selected from those in our previous four award categories. We're delighted to announce that Euan Hutton has been permanently appointed as Sellafield CEO. In confirming Euan’s appointment, Sellafield Ltd’s Chairman, Chris Train, said: "I am pleased to announce that, with support from the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA), UK Government and Sellafield Ltd Board, I have today appointed Euan Hutton permanently to the role of Sellafield Ltd CEO. "Euan has been interim CEO since July last year, and has demonstrated his integrity and expertise, meeting challenges head on. Anyone who knows Euan will know that he has the deepest respect for the people of Sellafield Ltd and the communities around us. "I am confident that Euan is the right leader for Sellafield Ltd and that he will continue to deliver what the organisation needs." NDA Chief Executive David Peattie, added: "I want to personally thank Euan for his dedication since taking on the role of interim CEO in July last year, and to acknowledge the progress we’ve seen under his leadership. "Euan’s passion and commitment for the business, its nationally important mission and the people working to deliver it, is clear. "I am pleased he will now be instrumental in leading Sellafield’s next chapter, and enabling us to deliver our collective goal, to create a clean and safe environment for future generations."

Yesterday we brought together MPs and Ministers to update them on our mission progress and identify opportunities for collaboration to deliver the maximum positive social impact for those living around our sites. Our local MPs are a valuable stakeholder for us, they play an important role in representing their communities and helping shape and inform how we safely, securely and sustainably clean up the UK’s earliest nuclear sites, to leave a positive legacy for future generations. We are committed to engaging with them openly and transparently, building confidence in our capability to deliver effectively and efficiently for the UK taxpayer.
