🚨 The Scottish Government is consulting on banning bottom trawling in 20 offshore marine protected areas (MPAs). This is a critical opportunity to restore and regenerate Scotland’s seas, but we need your voice. 🦑 Bottom trawling is one of the most destructive forms of fishing, tearing up seafloor habitats, decimating marine life, and releasing stored carbon into the ocean. Last year, nearly 6,000 hours of suspected bottom trawling occurred in Scotland’s offshore MPAs—areas meant to protect our most vulnerable ecosystems. 🌊 This is our chance to stop this destruction. We must demand full site closures for all 20 MPAs under consideration. There is only a limited timeframe to answer this consultation. Add your voice now and help us protect Scotland’s incredible marine wildlife. 🐟 Take action now: 👉👉👉https://lnkd.in/eCg7npRb

🌊 "Chronic oil pollution can be incredibly harmful to marine life, with long-term effects on ecosystems. While litter on beaches is more visible, this type of diluted pollution adds another layer of threat that is harder to detect but just as dangerous." — Laura Young (aka @lesswastelaura) 🌍 ✨ Activist and environmental scientist Laura shares her thoughts on chronic pollution, the fossil fuel industry’s impact, and why the just transition to renewable energy is crucial for communities like Dundee. 🌍 Laura calls for transparency, accountability, and a focus on solutions that protect both the environment and the workers tied to the fossil fuel sector. 📖 Read the full interview: https://lnkd.in/e6vFxrjp ✍️ Take action: https://lnkd.in/eQJeB7gs

🌊 Picture this: a 10km oil slick in the North Sea, brimming with toxic chemicals. Now, imagine being a fish or a dolphin navigating this hazardous expanse. For them, it’s not just a spot on a map - it’s life-threatening contamination of their home, which could lead to immune stress, fertility issues, and even cancer. ❌ 🛢️ This is chronic oil pollution, and it's happening in UK seas every single day. Join us in demanding accountability from #BigOil for this devastating pollution. 🚨 BREAKING: Oil pollution in UK seas is being HUGELY underestimated - when Big Oil's permit breaches are added to accidental oil spills, the total oil spilled increases by AT LEAST 43%. 🤯 ⚠️ Our new report shows UK marine protected areas have suffered 248 oil spills from #BigOil’s permit breaches since 2021. Nearly half of these didn’t even bother to report the volume of oil spewing into our seas. 😡 🛢️ Big Oil is polluting our waters, and it's so much worse than you think.
