Feeling really energised after an incredible weekend sailing in the Solent with MS Together and Oceans of Hope UK.
While I've been very open about my #multiplescleroris diagnosis with friends, family and my broader network, I hadn't really done anything yet to engage with the MS community which I'm now a part of.
I've changed my working practice, focused on diet and exercise, but I think I was pretty reluctant to start getting involved and meet other people with MS, potentially because it would make it a lot more real than perhaps I've admitted to myself so far.
But I couldn't really make any excuses when I saw that MS Together, an organisation focused on young people aged 18 - 35, were offering an opportunity to take part in a sailing day with a crew of young people living with MS. As a young person (just!) who grew up sailing dinghies in the Lake District, I took the plunge, and I'm very glad I did.
Not only was it a really fun weekend, but it was also so helpful to meet a range of people from the newly diagnosed like me, to those living with the condition for years to just chat, not only about what we were going through but also normal life stuff.
So after clearing out the cobwebs with some serious sea breeze, it's time to get back to work with renewed vigour. A massive thank you once again to MS Together and Oceans of Hope UK, two organisations making a hugely positive difference in people's lives.
