We know there are links between rural crime and organised crime groups, which is why rural crime is a key focus of Police and Crime Commissioner, Philip Wilkinson's new #MakingWiltshireSafer Police and Crime Plan. Earlier this week, our rural crime lead, Steve Davis, joined Wiltshire Police PCSO Charlotte King at Southern Counties Auctioneers, where they chatted to farmers and farm workers about the work being done to tackle rural crime in partnership with all of our neighbouring Police and Crime Commissioners and police forces in Avon & Somerset, Devon & Cornwall, Dorset, Gloucestershire, Hampshire and Thames Valley, known as Operation Ragwort. 📕Find out more by reading the full Police & Crime Plan https://lnkd.in/eGaNYhrU 🎥You can watch a video about the Police & Crime Plan here https://lnkd.in/ekW8p5xM #PoliceAndCrimePlan #Wiltshire #Swindon #Policing #SafeCommunities

Giving young people the confidence and platform to make sure their voices are heard when engaging with figures of authority and people within their communities is an important part of the work we do. That's why we've funded a number of projects across Wiltshire and Swindon which helps young people who are victims of crime, steers those who are at risk of being exploited by gangs away from crime, and creates a link between young people and their communities. The Police and Crime Commissioner, Philip Wilkinson, strongly believes young people should be heard when it comes to decisions affecting their lives, which is why we want you to share your views, experiences, and ideas, and to tell the Government what really matters to you if you're aged between 10-21 (aged 25 with SEND). The survey is available by following the link in the comments and is open until April 16th https://lnkd.in/eEQK7cHi #DeliverYou #WhatsYourOrder #MakingWiltshireSafer

Did you know that according to the most recent set of figures from NFU Mutual, rural crime cost Wiltshire residents £1.1M in 2023? Operation Ragwort is led by Police and Crime Commissioners and Police Forces across the South West, with extra support from PCCs and forces in Thames Valley and Hampshire. This operation aims to disrupt the organised criminal groups which are targeting our rural communities and causing considerable harm. By working together, we will make our region a safer place for our residents in rural communities to live and work.
