At the OSBC we are focussed on getting businesses paid what they’re owed when they’re in dispute with customers over payments for goods or services. Similarly, the Business Banking Resolution Service may be able to help resolve banking disputes. With just one month to go before the BBRS closes to new registrations, time is running out. If you think you could benefit, whether you’re an owner or a director, contact the BBRS and see if they can help ⬇️ https://lnkd.in/eAnviP4m

About us
The Office of the Small Business Commissioner (OSBC) is an independent public body set up by Government under the Enterprise Act 2016 to tackle late payment and unfavorable payment practices in the private sector. #PayDontDelay Launched in December 2017 the Small Business Commissioner leads an independent office aimed at empowering small businesses in resolving disputes around late and unfair payment issues and provides advice, including on how to take action if a payment is overdue. The Commissioner urges small businesses affected by late or unfair payment practices to use the SBC’s complaint investigation service and promises to take action to tackle the worst examples of supply chain bullying. The SBC covers the whole of the UK - England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

E-invoicing is on the Government’s agenda. We’re behind the curve in the UK. Some businesses find they can’t export into markets where e-invoicing has been mandated or where it’s what the firms they wish to trade with use. We need to get with the programme. But how? Small businesses are worried about the costs and time, and that their customers all use different systems. Small Business Commissioner, Liz Barclay 📣 "The World Federation for Mental Health says: “It’s time to prioritise mental health in the workplace.” For me that means small businesses too.... where mental health problems are increasing, often due to late or missing payments. You can't function well if your mental health is on the floor. Let's see if we can help you get paid and let you get some sleep at night."

Small Business Commissioner 📣 "It's all happening in Harrow tomorrow at the flagship business event Harrow Means Business. Local MP and Small Business Minister Gareth Thomas will be speaking after me and we want to hear from the indispensable small and micro firms keeping the local economy going and adding social value, about the support they need."
We are counting down the days to this year’s Harrow Means Business expo, which is taking place on October 10th, at Victoria Hall in Sheepcote Road, Harrow between 10am and 4pm. As usual it is completely free to attend and, if you are looking to expand your contacts in North West London, this really is the place to be. There will be a room full of expert exhibitors, informative seminars and lots of networking opportunities throughout the day. Why not try your hand at speed networking which is a fast and fun way to meet lots of new contacts. We are delighted to confirm that we'll be hearing from Liz Barclay, the Small Business Commissioner, at 10:30am. Then Gareth Thomas MP for Harrow West will be speaking at 11.30am. He is also Under-Secretary of State at the Department of Business and Trade with responsibility for small business and we know many of you will be keen to hear what he has to say.
