    🚨 Changes to UK Labour Laws and Employment Protection 🚨 Yesterday’s announcement of the UK’s new labour laws signals a proactive step towards creating a more sustainable and resilient workforce. 💪 The changes encourage organisations to focus on stability and long-term investment in their people, which will not only strengthen the workforce but also foster loyalty and productivity, helping businesses thrive in a competitive market. 🚀 This shift is all about quality over quantity – hiring the right talent and investing in their development to build a stronger, more adaptable workforce for the future. 📈 🔑 One of the key proposals in the Employment Rights Bill is the removal of the two-year qualifying period for unfair dismissal, granting employees day-one employment rights. ⚖️ While these changes aim to strengthen worker protections, they raise important considerations for employers – especially when it comes to balancing permanent vs temporary roles. UK employment protection has traditionally been weak compared to other OECD countries, but the UK performs relatively well on employment outcomes, including low unemployment rates and a high percentage of permanent roles. 📊 🧐 Increasing protection could lead employers to rely more on temporary roles or adopt stricter hiring practices. This might result in fewer opportunities for younger workers or those lacking experience. The “temp-to-perm” pathway could also become more common, potentially increasing job insecurity. On the flip side, these reforms may encourage organisations to refine probation periods and performance evaluations, leading to a more transparent and fair recruitment process. ✅ As these changes take shape, it’s essential for organisations to stay informed and agile as the labour market continues to evolve. 📅 The consultation process has just begun, and it may be some time before the Bill comes into effect.     🌍 We're excited to share a big milestone in Omni's sustainability journey!   With the help of our environmental partners, Positive Planet, we've reported our carbon footprint for the second year running – and we’re proud to announce a 11% reduction in CO2 emissions year-on-year! 🚀   This achievement is a significant step toward our net zero target by 2040. Thanks to the success of our hybrid working model, we’ve reduced office space and implemented a new travel policy, both contributing to this reduction.   We've been ambitious from the start, measuring our full Scope 3 emissions for a complete view of our impact.    In 2024, we’re taking it further by engaging our suppliers in carbon reduction activities and reporting.   Check out our Carbon Reduction Plan on our website to learn more about our journey! 🌱   #Sustainability #NetZero #CarbonReduction #PositiveImpact
