Smart Data is a huge leap from open banking and Open Finance, transforming our everyday lives in areas such as banking, property buying, financial planning, energy, healthcare, transport, and education to name just a few. At the same time, aligning the efforts of this expansive ecosystem (including products, technologies, business models, legal and regulations etc.) will bring uncharted complexities, so having a coherent framework to connect the dots and align all the stakeholders interests and efforts at the outset is essential.
Drawing on my extensive experience over the past 10 years working with open data sharing across business sectors such as financial services, aviation, education etc., I am developing a customer-centric framework to support Smart Data implementation that unifies all elements of the ecosystem, incorporating valuable insights generously shared with me by industry thought leaders from both the public and private sectors in the UK, Europe, US and Australia.
My intent is to develop a framework to support smart data research and implementation, that is simple, clear and flexible to drive customer value creation and incentivise industry investment and innovation, while highlighting the massive benefits Smart Data unlocks for both sides.
This is an ongoing work that will require a great deal of next steps research and expert input but phase 1 is complete and the framework is now in a sharable state. I’m now looking forward to diving further into a list of prioritized framework enablers with ecosystem experts and other stakeholders who are also passionate about Smart Data, many have already expressed their interests in the further development of the framework, and we are working together to grow the framework assets.
