During her time as a Research Assistant at Open Development & Education, Olamide Eso and Omdena joined forces in a hackathon to address climate challenges in Tanzanian schools using AI. The goal? To create a predictive model that forecasts indoor classroom temperatures using geospatial and meteorological data. This AI-driven approach aims to improve classroom environments, making them more comfortable for students. Key outcomes: 🔴 Developed a hybrid AI model for accurate indoor temperature predictions. 🔴 Provided real-time forecasts through an interactive dashboard for school infrastructure improvements. 🔴 Developed adaptable solutions for better learning conditions in Tanzania's climate-vulnerable schools. Margret Mauricia Nambatya's work explores the use of Interlocking Stabilised Soil Blocks (ISSBs), a greener alternative to traditional fired brick, reducing deforestation and enhancing community livelihoods. 🍃 ISSBs offer greater strength, lower costs, and seems to improve thermal comfort for school buildings, while protecting the environment. What an incredible way to create a more resilient school infrastructure across East Africa! 🌍 #SustainableDevelopment #ClimateAction #EngineeringForGood #EducationForAll #ISSBs https://lnkd.in/eaN5ye3w
