What an amazing job by our friends at Optalis to produce these brilliant sculptures 👏 The Phryges are the official mascots of the 2024 Paris Olympics, with more than 1,300 hours put into creating them 🎨 The sculptures were part of the Community Lives project and will be in Market Place until Friday 16 August 🤩 Find out more ➡️ https://lnkd.in/ehdxb8uG 📸 Stewart Turkington

Our dementia care advisors have shared tips for supporting people with dementia. It's common for those with dementia to re-enact activities they used to do at work, here are some ideas to try. Take a look their full guide for more information and advice https://zurl.co/1qQb Activity: It is not unusual for a person with dementia to go through the motions of the activity they may previously have carried out at work. This can indicate a need to be occupied and to feel there is a purpose and structure to their life. We all need a purpose in life and it is important to help someone feel involved in day to day life. Perhaps involve them in what you are doing or give them little tasks to do (even if you keep repeating the same task). You could try: • Folding laundry • Setting the table for dinner • Polishing shoes • Sorting nuts and bolts • Sorting the mail • Preparing dinner • Caring for house-plants

Well done to the team at Bluebell House for winning compliment of the month. They received this feedback from a family member "My Mum has only been with you since March, but our impression so far has been tremendously positive. Mum is far more engaged, far more interactive, brighter, & a lot happier. She loves the food, the activities, the carers; & generally seem much better than she was at (her last care home). So for now, I wanted to say a very big Thank You for everything you, the team, & Optalis are doing at Bluebell House.”

This summer a group of people from Westmead Community Lives Day Service enjoyed a refreshing boat trip at Runnymede. The warm weather was pleasantly balanced by a cool river breeze once the boat started moving. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the experience and hope to return for another trip in the future.
