🌍 What are your ambitions for driving sustainable change? 🚀 🌱 Our accelerator programme is now open for applications, offering startups the kick-start they need to embark on their pioneering journeys. Local Energy Systems is part of the current cohort, optimising access to data and the geospatial community to drive the UK closer to net zero. They are helping the UK's National Grid transition to a fully decarbonised network. Founders Beth Holloway and Leo Thomson joined the programme in October with a clear and decisive mission: to expand the decentralised energy market by 30x over the next decade. By collaborating directly with Ordnance Survey and Land Registry, they are leveraging machine learning and novel datasets to enhance the accuracy of site assessments and supercharge the growth of decentralised energy. Reflecting on why they applied for the programme, they said: "The opportunity to connect with and learn from a diverse group of leading geospatial startups across the UK was too good to pass up! The programme has been a game-changer, offering invaluable industry networking opportunities, tailored technical support from geospatial data experts, and an increased platform for our business. Not to mention, we have access to a fantastic workspace in Central London, where we can connect with other geospatial founders." When asked which historical figure they would connect with if they could, they nominated Edith Clarke (1883–1959), the first professionally employed female electrical engineer in the United States. “A trailblazing electrical engineer in the energy industry, where women still make up only 16% of the workforce today, Edith was renowned for her expertise in power transmission systems and would be an invaluable asset in helping the UK’s National Grid transition to a fully decarbonised network.” If you're an innovator or founder, apply to our Spring cohort now. 🛰️ GeoTech - https://lnkd.in/epA-pGCR Applications close midnight Sunday 2 March.
