🌍 We had the pleasure of hosting a productive and thought-provoking discussion at the Saïd Business School, University of Oxford last week, all on ESG! Chaired by our brilliant Emily Matthews, who heads up OSE’s Responsible Investment, we welcomed over 20 of the brightest minds from VCs, LPs, sustainability consultancies, and portfolio companies to discuss ESG Strategies for startups. The roundtable explored investor approaches to assessing and engaging on ESG, the evolving landscape, and real-world examples of best practices across sectors and stages. Key takeaways from the session included: 📈 That sustainability is a journey – The importance of getting started early, how to best identify and prioritise material topics, and why the focus should be on “progress over perfection”. 📊Finding the overlap – Key focus areas discussed that intersect across sectors, stages, and stakeholders including sustainability governance, climate, diversity & inclusion, and cybersecurity. 🔓 Unlocking value – Why sustainability integration enables access to both capital and revenue, and how it creates an opportunity to enhance employee engagement. A big thank you to all the fantastic contributors in the room. We’re excited to continue driving meaningful conversations around ESG and its role in shaping the next generation of transformational businesses. #innovation #ESG #UniversitySpinouts

Our CEO Edward Bussey recently sat down with Quad, Oxford's Alumni Magazine, to reflect on his journey since joining OSE one year ago and share his vision for the future. In the interview, Ed discusses his perspective on the unique opportunity that comes with leading OSE, busts common myths about what we do, and highlights the company's critical role in shaping the next generation of transformational businesses. His vision for the future of innovation in the UK calls for the unlocking of more scale-up capital (via Mansion House Compact), greater collaboration between industry and government, and moving at 10x the speed to maximise the crucial role that spinout companies have in supporting the country's economic growth and productivity. 🔗 Read the full interview, written by Richard Lofthouse here- https://lnkd.in/efmwxbDG #Leadership #Innovation #OxfordAlumni #OxfordInnovation
