Great to see the publication of a "Sustainability by Design" whitepaper from group company Grenadier Estates Ltd. Sharing know-how and identifying opportunities for systems change will be key to the land and energy transitions. Particularly in carbon intense sectors such as the built environment.
Grenadier’s focus on sustainable development has taught us valuable lessons. We plan to share what we have learnt through a series of Whitepapers and are delighted to publish the first of these today as part of #worldgreenbuildingweek. This paper discusses the current RIBA development stages, proposes new sections to address climate and sustainability, and recommends the appointment of a Principal Sustainability Designer to ensure that sustainability is a key consideration at every stage of development. By adopting these changes Grenadier believes we can all achieve Sustainability by Design. Our whitepapers are not meant to be perfect or holistic but are designed to share what we have learnt, spark engagement and call out the systems and processes required to create positive change.
