It's a hat-trick! Congratulations Tom Westerman on securing 3 permissions in 3 weeks: 2 for Listed Building Consent and a Certificate of Lawfulness.

New month, new planning permission! We have secured outline planning permission to redevelop what might politely be described as an "aesthetically sub-optimal" builders yard in Bexhill into 8 flats with on-site landscaping and parking. Kudos to Draft 2 Design's Mike Farrell, whose design addressed potential overlooking to/from neighbouring properties and helped demonstrate the proposed development's compatibility with surrounding development in all other respects.   #planning #newhomes

September means a 'new start' for many, in academic pursuits and other avenues. In September 2023 a student contacted us requesting work experience, which we were happy to facilitate. We recently learned that in September 2024 they will be starting a Pathways to Planning Graduate Scheme. Not every permission comes with a snazzy photo, but in the midst of a housing crisis, we're proud to have recently gained approval for a scheme of 9 flats, parking and landscaping in a sustainable location in Seaford. Parker Dann prepared the Design and Access Statement and planning case, advised on the draft and final drawings and submitted the application on behalf of COASTSIDE HOMES LIMITED Because we're pretty sure most people would choose an actual home of any kind over a meaningless snazzy photo. #planning #newhomes

Without a doubt the nation needs more planners, so it's handy that Cheryl McLoughlin MRPTI has just regained her chartered status with Royal Town Planning Institute. Congratulations - we're really proud of you!

Phew, Friday was a scorcher, but it was refreshing to put faces to names and meet our clients from Brookworth Homes in person for some light refreshments, made all the better as the Sussex Cricket Sharks being on fire too.

Thank you to Raven Housing Trust and Boutique Modern Ltd. for the excellent and informative tour last week of their zero carbon affordable housing project on the former Pells Church of England School site at Landport, Lewes, East Sussex. We were at the South Downs National Park Authority’s Planning Committee meeting when this project was approved so it is good to see the progress made with this modular housing development since then. The project will deliver 32 affordable housing units and is expected to be completed by 2025. These photos show the impressive progress already, assisted by the modular construction approach.   Thank you also to Constructing Excellence Sussex Club for organising the event. #planning #newhomes #modularhousing
