Funded by Motability Foundation and delivered in partnership with Peddle My Wheels/OurBike, Wheels For Wellbeing, and Sustrans, this initiative offers free cycle loans to Londoners whose needs aren’t met by traditional bike hire programs. With 50 bikes across 14 boroughs—and even one in Saffron Walden—we’re proving that sustainable, shared transport isn’t just the future—it’s happening now. But OurBike is more than just a transport scheme. By partnering with local businesses, councils, and community hubs, we’re making cargo bikes affordable, accessible, and a real asset to the neighbourhoods they serve. Whether it’s supporting local enterprises, reducing emissions, or making the school run easier, OurBike is community-powered transport in action. Recently, we took a research trip to Paris to check out their world-leading cycling infrastructure. From turning the Voie Pompidou into a scenic park for pedestrians and cyclists to the pedestrianisation of Pont d’Iéna near the Eiffel Tower and the cyclist-friendly Rue de Rivoli, Paris demonstrates how bold action can reimagine urban spaces. These changes have significantly increased cycling rates and enhanced city life. Last week, the 4th annual MP Smarter Travel Cargo Bike Cruise with Team London Bridge and Cargo Revolution saw over 80 cargo bikes roll through London, celebrating the growing adoption of these eco-friendly vehicles. Campaigners, politicians, and representatives from more than 50 businesses that use cargo bikes joined together to ride past the Houses of Parliament, raising awareness and advocating for greater support of zero-emission deliveries. According to Clean Cities research, cargo bike use among Londoners and businesses surged by 63% between 2022 and 2023—a remarkable achievement!
