Yesterday marked the launch of a groundbreaking partnership between HMP Onley and Greene King pubs to help prisoners gain valuable, real-world skills in hospitality! Through this innovative training academy, prisoners learn catering, barista, front, or back-of-house skills, all leading to a City & Guilds qualification. Some have also gained valuable skills and experience by being part of the utility party who painted and decorated the academy ready for it's launch. When released, they’ll have the chance to interview for positions at Greene King pubs, giving them a pathway to a brighter future. Only the second of it's kind in the UK, with the support of dedicated mentors and a realistic pub-like environment, it brings opportunity and growth right inside the prison walls. Learners from our Music Technology course at HMP The Mount have contributed a piece of music to the Catching the Chain exhibition, which opened earlier this month at St Albans Museums + Gallery. This exhibition, created through collaboration between more than 10 partner organisations, explores the criminal justice system through creative work. Our learners composed and performed the music, which reflects their personal experiences of prison life. What if we told you that a simple TV channel has transformed over half the UK prison population, helping thousands rebuild their lives through innovative in-cell education? As we celebrate WayOut TV's 10th anniversary this month, we're struck by a powerful truth: transformation often comes from the most unexpected places. Picture this: In a small prison cell, someone is taking their first steps toward a new future through their TV screen. This is the reality we've created at PeoplePlus UK, reaching those who traditional education couldn't touch. The impact speaks volumes: 7,758 completed courses with a 97% pass rate across 70+ UK prisons. Through our Way2Learn platform, now partnering with the University of West England, we're delivering CPD-accredited courses directly to cells. As Phil Sanders, Deputy Governor at HMP Bedford notes: "WayOutTV has transformed education delivery, making it more accessible and effective, giving individuals the skills they need to unlock their potential".
