About us

Since 1991, when we were a wholesaler with a team of just 15, we’ve been focused on getting better every day. By putting pets before profit, working as a team and taking pride in everything we do, we’ve grown into a 451 store network with more than 8,913 colleagues working in our Stores, Grooming Salons, Distribution Centres and Support Office. We are the UK’s leading pet specialist, providing pet owners with all their product needs, as well as our Vets for Pets practices and Grooming salons. We support our colleagues to work with pride and passion, to bring honesty and integrity to work every day, and to do it all with a sense of fun and fearlessness. We never shy away from having the important conversations and doing what we say we’ll do. Our values and behaviours are practiced daily across the business and are what really makes us an enjoyable, exciting place to work. We're always striving to develop and reward our colleagues with an extensive in-house series of training programmes, wellbeing initiatives and a comprehensive benefits package. In 2018 we were delighted to be voted top 5 in the Great Place to Work UK’s Large category. Our colleagues are central to the success of the business and are fully trained in pet care and dedicated to animal welfare. Pets are central to everything that we do and 93% of colleagues have their own pets too! Huge congratulations to charity Hero Paws, who are this year’s winners of the Soldiering On Awards Animal Partnership Award, which is proudly sponsored by Pets at Home. Hero paws - Life AFTER service was founded by former military dog handlers Jaime, Sam and Amber to provide training and financial support to retired service dogs like Fedor, pictured. They were nominated for the Animal Partnership Award, which honours the unique relationships and companionship between the military community and their animals, alongside Service Dogs UK and Pawseidon. Jaime, who collected the award on behalf of the team, said: “A massive thank you to everyone who supported us through this roller-coaster adventure. Congratulations to the Hero Paws family; this is all down to you and all you achieve every day for the greater good of our amazing forces and services dogs. And thank you to Pets at Home for sponsoring this award and recognising all these amazing Animal Partnership nominees. What a truly hard decision that must have been.” #PetsatHome

Today is International Day of Charity, which is the perfect day to announce the results of the Pets Foundation and Blue Cross UK Summer Appeal! We are incredibly grateful for the overwhelming support we have received and would like to say a massive thank you to our colleagues, customers, and suppliers who backed this year’s summer fundraiser. Thanks to everyone's kindness and hard work, we are delighted to announce that we have donated all 60,000 pet food parcels, which can feed 79,200 pets for a day, and raised a staggering £475,300. Your donations have made a real difference to pets and people in communities facing challenging times nationwide. It has also prevented many people from having to choose between feeding themselves or their pets or surrendering their pets for rehoming. The Pets Foundation is committed to making a lasting impact, and the funds raised and parcels donated mean that this project can continue to help keep pets and people together in local communities. #PetsatHome

As much as we would love to have Ale and Hugh move in, we've already had some serious snoring complaints from the Guinea Pigs... 💤   But while they pack their bags, Grub Club Pets is here to stay and is already creating quite the buzz.   Packed full of bug fuelled protein and prebiotics, these crunchy, munchy treats are not only paw-some for any pooches but have a positive impact on the environment. 💚

WE'RE MAKING OURSELVES AT HOME Ale and Hugh have been busy packing up the bug suits, purchasing plants and framing photos because... Grub Club are moving into Pets at Home - permanently. Did our bosses take this a little too literally? Yes. Head to the dog treat aisle in EVERY Pets at Home store, nationwide, to catch a glimpse of the Grub. Huge thanks to Rowan Beattie, Matilda Wheatley, Kate Robinson & the rest of the team at Pets at Home for all the support in getting this launch over the line. Not just a huge win for Grub Club, but a huge win for BUGS!
