Having seen her work at the British Art Fair last month thanks to the Wilhelmina Barns-Graham Trust we're excited to see Mark Cousins' interpretation of the late Wilhelmina Barns-Graham "A Sudden Glimpse to Deeper Things" which hits selected screens today. https://lnkd.in/e_f_aA4V

The fourth plinth in London's Trafalgar Square is host to Teresa Margolles' Mil Veces un Instante (A thousand times an Instant). Made from 726 plaster casts of faces of trans, non-binary and gender non confirming people made in Mexico and London. Designed to deteriorate but not disintegrate over time Plaster represents both fragility and strength in the trans, non-binary and gender non confirming communities and the material has retained more than just the form, but also makeup, eyebrows and eyelashes from the subjects which remain present in the work on display. https://lnkd.in/evWsJe9r

We are saddened to hear that the artist Norman Ackroyd CBE RA passed away earlier this week. Ackroyd worked primarily in etching and aquatint from his studio in Bermondsey. The leading printmaker was made CBE in the 2007 New Years Honours for services to Engraving and Printing. Eames Fine Art in Bermondsey represent Ackroyd's work in London and his work is held in collections including the Tate, The National Gallery of Art in Washington DC and The British Museum. His landscapes depict Britain's most remote and beautiful locations and convey a rich feeling of the sea, the light and the weather. The depth in his work is a testament to his talent as an artist and technical skills as a printmaker. In 2013 the BBC produced a wonderful film in the series What Do Artists Do All Day? documenting Norman Ackroyd's creative process in his Bermondsey Studio which is linked below. Our exhibition pick of the week is: Write, Cut, Rewrite at The Bodleian Libraries, University of Oxford until December. What does process of refining a literary classic look like? This exhibition shows you by peeling back the cover on the creative process that is hidden by the final published work. By collecting examples from the cutting room floor of Mary Shelley, Jane Austen and John le Carré this illustrates the importance of editing in literature that feeds the well worn phrase "killing your darlings". Some works are revealed that were totally abandoned: For example Jane Austen's The Watsons was not published, others subject to censorship such as Samuel Beckett's Waiting for Godot. And would our relationship with The Wind in the Willows be the same if it had kept its original title?

PIVOTAL: Digitalism, a new space at British Art Fair, will present for sale digital art in all formats, from AI, AR, VR, digital sculpture, moving image, photography and painting, with immersive installations. This is the first dedicated digital section in a major art fair and will include works by leading artists in the field such as David Sheldrick, Cecilie Waagner Falkenstrøm, AI.S.A.M. and X New Worlds
