If you’d like to sponsor me, you can do so here: https://lnkd.in/eM8Shcrz For those who don’t know, aside from 14 years at PLMR advising care providers, I also had seven years of direct family experience arranging and managing the care of my Gran, firstly in her own home, and then in a care home. As she lived in Cornwall throughout (you couldn't possible take a proud Cornish woman out of the county), and as I didn’t have any local family support, I was exceptionally reliant on the kindness, compassion and generosity of her care team to both do the day-to-day and to respond quickly when anything went wrong…. try getting a plumber into someone’s house when they have advanced dementia! I cannot speak more highly of the care she received from a range of home care agencies and latterly her care home in Hayle, and I think it speaks to the strength of the relationship carers have with the people they support that three of them attended her funeral. For those not familiar with the Care Workers’ Charity, it is a benevolent fund and advocacy organisation for the UK’s 1.5 million professional care workers – 60% of whom are paid below the National Living Wage, and often lack access to employment rights that desk-based workers (like me) take for granted, particularly sick pay.
