Basingstoke Hockey Club made history this summer by being the first club in the UK to install the Poligras Paris GT zero turf from Polytan GmbH, and we were delighted to be part of the project. Poligras Paris GT zero turf is the world’s first carbon zero hockey turf and has been FIH Innovation-certified for dry hockey. The surface marked a massive milestone in sustainable sports infrastructure. Let’s take a look back at the finished result of the project back in August. The refurbishment of one of the artificial hockey pitches at The University of Edinburgh's Peffermill Playing Fields has been completed and the Carbon Zero ISCC certified hockey pitch is ready for play! The installation of the new Poligras Paris GT zero surface at Peffermill will provide an elite training facility in the heart of Scotland with the surface originally developed for the 2024 Paris Olympics. The artificial pitch is the world’s first and only carbon zero hockey turf and has also been FIH Innovation-certified for dry hockey. A very exciting project to be part of having worked hard behind the scenes for many months with the Peffermill team and Malcolm Clapperton. The end result is magnificent and special thanks goes to our project partner Sportex Group who have delivered Scotland’s first International Hockey Federation (FIH) dry hockey pitch Poligras Paris GT zero is carbon zero and helps to support Edinburgh Universities goals regarding sustainability and being net carbon zero. Thanks to Colin Ashton and Tom Benson ensuring that the specialised hand stitched turf installation went as well as it did.
