Founder & CEO | Engaging Next Generation in Industry | Improving Business through Sustainability | Driving Cultural Change | Raising Skills & Awareness | Improving Talent Attraction & Retention
Diversity - what does it mean to you? For us it is about creating programmes accessible to everyday people across the demographics. Net-zero - what does it mean to you? For us it is focussed on the thousands of jobs and careers the transition will bring to the next generation. On Friday night, Powering Futures was honoured to accept the prestigious ‘Diversity in Net-Zero Leadership’ award from The Herald Scotland and GenAnalytics Diversity awards, sponsored by Crown Estate Scotland. It was an incredible evening celebrating innovation and diversity from across so many sectors. For our part we were delighted to be acknowledged for demonstrating how our initiatives are tailored for everyday people and underscoring our commitment to fostering inclusive leadership for a net-zero future. To top off the night, our Andrew Barnes literally 'bumped' into Elliot, a former Powering Futures student who happened to be working at the event. Andrew was delighted to hear about Elliot’s plans to pursue a PhD and become a teacher reminding us of the incredible potential in the next generation. When given the chance, they inspire with their ambition, resilience, and dedication. Andrew took the opportunity after the event to seek out Elliot - it is our alumni who are the stars of the show, always!! As we look ahead to the future, this award reminds us of our mission to have 1m young people through our programmes by 2030, connecting them to the opportunities which will emerge from the transition to net-zero. A world which is more inclusive, equitable, and resilient will tackle climate change from the bottom up and rely upon a well constructed bridge between business and education. Thank you to our volunteers, schools and partners who are helping to create the platform for more and more Elliots to thrive and prosper.
