As the eyes of the world move to the upcoming #COP29 We're happy to be among the major businesses supporting bold and ambitious actions from the UK Government to address the global climate crisis. Many businesses fully understand the need to invest in the climate transition and adaptation but clear policy and commitments to global frameworks make it easier for companies to go further and faster; taking more organisations with us! Well done again to Corporate Leaders Groups for convening such a strong voice from business. Our own commitment to sustainability and how we contribute to many of the UN's Sustainable Development Goals is set out in our Enriching Life Plan.” https://lnkd.in/eDrH73j8 #BGALetter #BGANetZero #CLGUK

📢 Business leaders urge the UK government to set a world-leading example by setting ‘ambitious’ and ‘investable’ climate targets. Read the full letter coordinated by the UK Business Group Alliance for Net Zero (BGA) ➡ https://lnkd.in/ePcfRGCd More than 50 businesses, investors and financial institutions have signed a letter to the Prime Minister, put forward by the BGA, urging the government to reassert its climate leadership on the world stage 🌍 With the #COP29 conference just weeks away, signatories including the UK Corporate Leaders Groups (CLG UK), Unilever, SSE plc, IKEA and BT Group are calling for the UK to be one of the first countries to announce an ‘ambitious and investable’ Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) for 2035 🎯   The letter states that the NDC must align with the Paris Agreement and the UK’s 2050 #NetZero emissions target - and be underpinned by credible delivery mechanisms that encourage other countries to follow suit. 🤝 By working together as businesses, investors, financial institutions and government, we can be a powerful catalyst for global change. To coincide with the letter, CLG UK has also published a report that shows how the UK can regain its climate leadership position over the next few years through five key actions. If implemented, these policies will close the 2030 delivery gap: 🔌Deliver on electrification: incentivise and facilitate large-scale electrification, while phasing out the use of fossil fuels 🤝 Deliver on markets: support decarbonisation through market creation 💡 Deliver on skills: plan and prepare for a future-fit workforce 🏠 Deliver on homes: implement comprehensive and stable policies to ensure UK homes are comfortable, energy efficient and low carbon 🍃 Align climate and nature targets: make climate change mitigation, adaptation and nature targets mutually reinforcing Beverley Cornaby, Chair of the BGA and Director of CLG UK, said: 🗣 “If the Government can accelerate policy action towards achieving its 2030 climate target, the UK has an opportunity for growth, innovation, investment and to build resilience. The private sector stands ready to work with policy makers in delivering this, with over 50 signatories calling for a new era of UK climate leadership, showing what we already knew: businesses have consistently shown their support for net zero ambition and action. The UK government needs to demonstrate leadership in this decade of delivery."  #BGALetter #BGANetZero #CLGUK #2035NDC #EnergyTransition #climateleadership #climateaction #businessaction #naturepositive

For #BlackHistoryMonth this year, colleagues and our multicultural ERG have chosen to work with leading educational charity Show Racism the Red Card. All sites have been holding their own Wear Red days to demonstrate their allyship and have been discussing different forms of racism.   As part of efforts to attract more diverse talent to Premier Foods, head office also hosted a large group of Year12 students who had tasters on our sales, manufacturing and apprenticeship opportunities before a cookery session.   Featuring colleagues from Ashford, Stoke and St Albans:

“Made With OXO, Made With Love” is the latest OXO campaign with a new family. In the ad we see OXO morph into the text-speak XOX for “Love”, and audiences certainly XOX this charming family vignette. It’s the highest-scoring ad the condiment brand has ever managed in Test Your Ad - find out how it rates against the category and why the OXO Family has endured for four decades of effective commercials: https://hubs.la/Q02VQd8M0 Premier Foods Yilmaz Erceyes Mark Alldred Rhian Buckley  Above+Beyond Jonny Ray

Our graduate opportunities for next year go live in November and we're delighted to be featured in The Sun newspaper today, which highlights what a great employer the food industry can be.   As our Group HR & Comms Director David Wilkinson says, "We’re committed to building confidence as well as skills and behaviours, and supporting personal growth. It's a great place to grow a career. We recently ran a webinar on reducing food waste, as part of our strategy to support our suppliers with their ESG activity. 100 attendees from our supply chain joined the event, with presentations from Premier Foods Procurement and Environment teams, as well as food waste experts from WRAP (Waste and Resources Action Programme), a global environmental action NGO. This was part of our ongoing supplier ESG engagement strategy and was designed to encourage all raw material suppliers and co-manufacturers to support our aim to reduce food waste across their own business and the wider food and drink sector. We asked our suppliers to take the following action after the webinar: ◾ Further reduce food loss and waste within their own business and support their own suppliers to do the same ◾ Align with a Food Waste industry initiative and set targets to halve Food Waste by 2030 ◾ Commit to sending zero food waste to landfill ◾ Focus on delivering the best environmental option for dealing with any waste, with prevention being the best option overall.

With sites all over the country, we’re proud of the commitment so many of our colleagues show towards good causes which are local to them. A team of fifteen from our Carlton bakery in Yorkshire recently raised over £1,700 for Yorkshire Air Ambulance by taking on the Blencathra and Sharp Edge Walk in Cumbria. This is a tricky hike that climbs more than 850metres and takes 4 hours to complete. Well done to everyone who took part.

Congratulations to everyone who's worked so hard on this new partnership - at Premier Foods and DHL Supply Chain. One of our ambitions for this collaboration is to reduce our CO2 emissions, and we're already seeing an impact.

Today is #antislaveryday. Latest global figures show that the estimated total number of people living in modern slavery at any given time is 50 million. Of that figure, 27.6 million are trapped in forced labour, the majority of which occurs in the private sector. As part of our commitment to raising awareness of modern slavery and its impact, yesterday many of our colleagues joined a webinar to hear guest speakers from Unseen UK and Morrisons share real life examples of modern slavery within the UK, as well as practical advice on how to spot the signs and raise concerns. We also have a comprehensive Human Rights Policy to ensure we are respecting and protecting the Human Rights of everyone we employ, the people who work in our supply chains and those who live in the wider communities in which we operate both nationally and internationally. https://lnkd.in/epFxtkxs

We've recently submitted our annual response to the CDP which runs the global environmental disclosure system. Preventing catastrophic environmental damage starts with all companies, organisations, investors and nations being aware of their impact so they can consider their choices. As part of our Enriching Life Plan we're committed to reporting annually on a wide range of metrics and targets which help show what progress we're making.
