Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan shifts private equity strategy by prioritising partnerships over direct control of portfolio companies. Managing approximately $185.2bn, Ontario Teachers has traditionally operated under the Canadian Model of asset management, favouring in-house teams and independent governance. The shift reflects a response to current global economic conditions, including high interest rates and geopolitical uncertainty. As part of its internal restructuring, Ontario Teachers appointed Dale Burgess as interim executive managing director for equities. He will oversee private equity, infrastructure, and natural resources. Read more: https://lnkd.in/d4NMbW8v #PEInsights #privateequity #strategy #partnership

Private equity firms are scaling back their presence in Paris, redirecting capital to alternative financial centres such as Milan, Geneva, and Dubai. According to senior bankers, including executives at J.P. Morgan, UBS, Citi, and Barclays, the current shift is being driven by investor concerns over political instability and the broader market environment in France. JPMorgan’s Senior Country Officer for France, Kyril Courboin, acknowledged the challenges but emphasised recent progress. While some capital is leaving, Paris continues to benefit from its talent base and infrastructure. The reallocation reflects private equity’s ability to adapt to shifting market conditions while remaining focused on long-term value and opportunity.
