Have you seen the new insights from Habinteg? Their latest data highlights that installing grab rails, wet rooms, and stairlifts at the point of build is far more cost-effective than retrofitting these adaptations later. At PROCare Shower & Bathroom Centre Ltd, Invisible Creations®, and Foundations - National Body for Home Improvement Agencies, we continue to champion this approach to ensure homes are Fit for Our Future. Want to learn how you can future-proof your homes? 📧 Get in touch: hello@invisiblecreations.co.uk 🔗 Join the movement: www.fitforourfuture.today #HomeAdaptations #InclusiveDesign #UKHousing #FitForOurFuture #Grabrail #Wetroom #Bathrooms #HealthyAging #AccessibleHomes
Our new cost comparisons of grab rail, stairlift and wet room adaptations for Accessible Homes Week show that people living in an M4(1) visitable dwelling who may need to make such adaptations could be almost £27,000 worse off compared to those in an accessible and adaptable M4(2) home. Families and individuals could be forced to spend savings to privately fund essential adaptation whilst Local Authorities would be picking up the bill for those who do not have savings through a Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG). For a M4(1) visitable and older home, we’ve found that installing a grab rail costs £270, converting a WC to a wet room costs around £6,500, and installing a stair lift costs between £9,000 and £10,000. If a stairlift isn't possible the costs get even higher as a through floor lift can be up to £20,000 to install. These costs amount to a whopping £27,000. In contrast, grab rail, WC to wet room and a stairlift adaptations in an M4(2) adaptable and accessible home cost around £9,000. The Director of our in-house brand Invisible Creations® shares her thoughts on the cuts to Scotland's home adaptation fund. We look forward to pushing forward our Fit for our Future campaign to support the development of accessible homes that are fit for everyone at every stage of life. #fitforourfuture #accessiblehomes #accessiblehousing #ukhousing #disabilityrights #inclusivedesign
After attending the Accessible Housing Summit in Dundee just a week ago, with the energy and commitment to work towards tangible solutions to the critical issues surrounding the lack of adaptable and accessible homes ,it’s a real blow to read about the cuts to the Scottish home adaptation fund. Angela Currie points out the catastrophic impact that the lack of support to keep people safe in their homes will have on hospitals, the care sector and beyond… https://lnkd.in/ePJNXmh5 After launching the Fit for our Future campaign earlier this year - we continue to champion the urgent need for more adaptable and accessible homes. Alongside Paul Smith Invisible Creations®and PROCare Shower & Bathroom Centre Ltd we are campaigning for a more inclusive and proactive approach to adaptations to address the current housing crisis and prepare for our ageing population.
