  • Meet the Finalists of the Duke of Edinburgh Film & TV Inclusion Award 2025: Katie Player. A few days ago, The Production Guild of Great Britain announced the finalists of the Duke of Edinburgh Film & TV Inclusion Award 2025. The initiative recognises and celebrates the inspirational work of individuals or organisations that help make the UK Film & TV industry more inclusive. One of our five finalists is Katie Player, a Line Producer & Production Manager who has been a driving force in campaigning for and implementing accessible workplaces and sets in film and TV. She is one of the founders of the pressure group “Underlying Health Conditions” (UHC), a movement that aims to make the Film & TV industry more accessible by providing a blueprint for meaningful change. “Having worked my way up in an industry that has historically been inaccessible, I’ve dedicated much of my career to breaking down barriers for disabled talent, both in front of and behind the camera," Katie told us. • Meet the Finalists of the Duke of Edinburgh Film & TV Inclusion Award 2025: The Sara Putt Associates Trainee Scheme & Foundation. A few days ago, PGGB announced the finalists of the Duke of Edinburgh Film & TV Inclusion Award 2025. The initiative recognises and celebrates the inspirational work of individuals or organisations that help make the UK Film & TV industry more inclusive. One of our five finalists is The Sara Putt Associates Trainee Scheme & Foundation, which was created by the leading UK independent agency that represents behind-the-camera production and technical talent, SARA PUTT ASSOCIATES, to support new and diverse talent. Sara Putt, Founder and Managing Director of Sara Putt Associates, told us why she set up the trainee scheme: "About 12 years ago, it occurred to me that many people joining our industry were incredibly well-trained, both technically and creatively, but they had no idea how to be a freelancer. They lacked a sense of how to strategize around and progress in their careers, how to manage their finances, and how to negotiate or do interviews. So we decided – pretty much on the back of an envelope – to set up a trainee scheme to teach them all of those skills." • Meet the Finalists of the Duke of Edinburgh Film & TV Inclusion Award 2025: Futures in Film About two weeks ago, PGGB announced the finalists of the Duke of Edinburgh Film & TV Inclusion Award 2025. The initiative recognises the inspirational work of individuals or organisations that help make the UK Film & TV industry more inclusive. One of our five finalists is Futures in Film, an industry-led initiative dedicated to bridging the gap between underrepresented communities and the film and HETV industry through technical training, production simulations, and direct industry engagement. Rizwan Wadan, founder and director of Futures in Film, shared with us what motivated him to pause his career and establish the organisation: "The UK film industry is heavily network-driven, making it difficult for those outside traditional film schools to secure meaningful opportunities. (…) Access to this industry is a privilege but should be open. Muslim women, underrepresented communities, faith groups, neurodiverse individuals, and those from disadvantaged backgrounds deserve real opportunities. This isn’t just my mission—it’s something we all have a responsibility to change." If you want to learn more about Futures in Film, follow the link: https://lnkd.in/eJcWhZ7i

  • In just a few days, PGGB’s Royal Patron, HRH The Duke of Edinburgh, will present the Duke of Edinburgh Film & TV Inclusion Award 2025. This prestigious award, created in his name, recognises and celebrates the inspiring work of individuals or organisations that help make the UK Film & TV industry more inclusive. “If we want more young people to consider a career in production, then we ought to be shining a brighter light on where the opportunities lie,” The Duke of Edinburgh said. Inspiring young people to find their paths in the creative industries is only one of The Duke of Edinburgh’s many endeavours. While he dedicates much of his time to organisations that aim to widen opportunities in the creative sector such as the National Youth Theatre of Great Britain, The Orpheus Centre Trust, Creative Youth, Northern Ballet, and the National Youth Orchestras of Scotland, he also serves as Chairman of Trustees for The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Foundation, which helps young people build confidence and develop essential life skills, and is the Patron of London Youth, a network of youth clubs dedicated to empowering young people. Since March 2022, The Duke of Edinburgh has been the Royal Patron of the Production Guild of Great Britain. As such, he supports PGGB’s efforts to broaden the diversity and inclusion of the UK production workforce and to nurture new talent entering the industry.

  • Meet the Finalists of the Duke of Edinburgh Film & TV Inclusion Award 2025: (Her/She) Natalie Adele Edward-Yesufu PGGB recently announced the five finalists of the Duke of Edinburgh Film & TV Inclusion Award 2025. The initiative recognises the inspirational work of individuals or organisations that help make the UK Film & TV industry more inclusive. One of our finalists is the producer and creative entrepreneur Natalie Edward-Yesufu, whose work exemplifies a commitment to diversity, inclusion, and the empowerment of storytellers. While discussing what is driving her to make this industry more inclusive, Natalie told us about how she started in the industry and the challenges she has faced: ''Breaking into the entertainment industry as a woman of colour from Birmingham and the West Midlands was incredibly challenging. Despite my qualifications, accreditations, and work experience, I couldn’t get a job in broadcast or TV – and it was painful. You’re taught that hard work and education open doors, but for me, they didn’t. I found myself constantly on the outside looking in. (...) That’s when I realised – if I couldn’t get the job I wanted, I had to create it," Natalie says. If you want to read more about Natalie, follow the link below. https://lnkd.in/e8J5Qzjs

  • Meet the Finalists of the Duke of Edinburgh Film & TV Inclusion Award 2025: MOUTH THAT ROARS A few days ago, The Production Guild of Great Britain announced the five finalists of the Duke of Edinburgh Film & TV Inclusion Award 2025, an initiative that shines a light on individuals and organisations that are helping to create and progress talent inclusion in the UK screen production workforce. One of our five finalists is the organisation Mouth That Roars (MTR), which trains young people in film production who wouldn’t ordinarily have access to media resources. MTR was founded by Denise Rose nearly 30 years ago to address the inequalities she had seen and experienced while working in the industry: “Many years ago, whilst working in mainstream media, I witnessed first-hand the lack of representation from marginalised communities, both on and off-screen. I raised this with producers on many occasions, until one day I was told that the industry was never going to change, and maybe I would be 'happier' doing something else! So I did. I set up Mouth That Roars,” Denise says. If you want to find out more about Mouth That Roars, follow the link below. https://lnkd.in/eEJeUzdU
