About us
The content on this page discusses sensitive topics related to mental health and suicide prevention. This information may be distressing to some readers. If you or someone you know is in immediate danger or experiencing a crisis, please seek help from a mental health professional or contact emergency services. The resources shared here are intended to provide support and raise awareness. Shining a Light on Suicidality in the UK Black Community At Project Soul Stride, we're driving an independent, citizen science-led review focused on suicidality in the UK’s Black community—an issue long overlooked and underrepresented. With the release of the 2023 Suicide Prevention Strategy for England, now is the time for the Black community to stand up, make our voices heard, and inspire meaningful change. We’ve engaged with over 165 stakeholders from the NHS, Public Health, Academia, and grassroots organizations who share our vision for a brighter, healthier future. Together, we’re working to amplify awareness, shift policy, and ensure mental health services become more culturally competent and accessible. Our Objectives: 👉🏾Raise Awareness: Highlight the critical gaps in suicide prevention for Black communities. 👉🏾Drive Change: Advocate for improved policies, resources, and culturally sensitive mental health services. 👉🏾Build Partnerships: Collaborate with leaders, mental health professionals, and community organizations to create lasting impact. If you're passionate about creating change and want to be part of a solution, join us in our efforts. Together, we can make a difference. #ProjectSoulStride #MentalHealthAwareness #SuicidePrevention #BlackMentalHealth

According to the Office for National Statistics, around 75% of registered suicides in 2023 were men, with the 45-49 years old age group being most affected. Men are also less likely to reach out for help when they’re struggling with their mental health. Of the 311,000 referrals to NHS Talking Therapies made in the London region between April 2022 and March 2023, only 31% were men (NHS Digital).

Everymind is pleased to announce launch of the Suicide prevention implementation hub (the Hub), a new section on the Life in Mind portal designed to assist the suicide prevention sector in better understanding and leveraging implementation science. The Hub was developed through Everymind’s partnership with The University of Melbourne supporting the LIFEWAYS project to strengthen Australian suicide prevention research and facilitate the effective translation of research into policy and practice. The poll results are out today and are fascinating! It looks like most people prioritized the choice of therapist (63%), followed by a more personalized approach (37%). It’s telling that options like AI/technology tools and better pre-screening questions didn’t receive any votes. This could suggest that while technology and process improvements are on the rise, clients still value a human-centered approach where they feel connected to a therapist they resonate with. These insights can definitely spark discussion around balancing innovation with the deeply personal nature of therapy! #poll #therapy
