Today marks World Humanitarian Day - a moment to celebrate the profound contribution of humanitarian workers around the world. As any visitors will know, these words can be found on the side of the fire station in Shoreditch, east London. We've been lucky to work with some truly brilliant humanitarians over the years. The Shoreditch fire station resonates as a reminder of what humanitarians and frontline workers do in service of others, often putting themselves at great risk. Thank you. #ProtectHumanity

Today marks World Indigenous People's Day. Indigenous people make up 6% of the global population and – like all of us – are facing existential threats due to climate change. We salute the Kuna people of San Blas – a people who have governed the San Blas Islands continuously since their inhabition. We need to talk about olives. Soaring prices of olive oil are leading to a growing interest online. We were fascinated to hear what is driving these conversations and who is talking about olive oil in different countries in a recent talk hosted by Pulsar on the Future of Food. Interestingly, environmentalists only feature prominently in discussions in the UK. As the Guardian reported in May: “... trees have suffered from extreme heat and drought in recent years as the climate crisis wreaks havoc on harvests… Just under 2.3m tonnes are expected to be produced globally this year, according to the latest data from the International Olive Council… For the second year in a row, demand is expected to outstrip supply, putting pressure on prices for shoppers.” #FutureOfFood #OliveOil #SocialListening #FoodSecurity
