**Pain Cafe up and running in Sheffield!** Complementing our 1-1 coaching with specialist pain coaches we now have a pain cafe for people to come and have a cup of tea, share stories, socialise, share tips on management, and learn about chronic pain. It was brilliant to see them connect and genuinely learn from each other as we discussed some positive management strategies and even giving each other ideas on getting back to work and setting goals! Nice to hear how much people were progressing whilst working with @john feek one of our coaches “he’s great, he’s changed the way I think about my pain”! Really satisfying seeing the smiles on their faces as they all left with personal action points from what they’d learned today! 1 lady had attended a pain management programme 2 years ago, which had helped but she had been slipping into old habits, and admitted she’d forgotten a lot of the key things she’d learnt on the programme. She was so happy when some of the discussion reminded her about the effect stress and other factors can have on pain, and she realised why her pain had been much worse recently! Living with chronic pain is tough. For those lucky enough to attend a good pain management programme, an 8 week programme is not enough in so many cases. Proper support in primary care or the community should be the gold standard…. 🌸 World Menopause Day 2024 🌸 At Pure Physiotherapy, we believe in supporting women through every stage of life. In honour of #WorldMenopauseDay, we’re sharing insights from our specialist Women's Health Physio, saira urooj, on what Menopause is, its symptoms, and how physiotherapy can make a difference. 👩⚕️ What is Menopause? Menopause is a natural part of aging that typically happens between ages 45-55, marking the end of menstrual cycles due to a decline in reproductive hormones. This transition can bring significant changes to a woman’s body and health. Common Symptoms Include: 🗓 Irregular periods: Hormonal shifts lead to unpredictable cycles. Hot flushes & night sweats: Sudden warmth and sweating, often disrupting sleep. 🤕 Vaginal dryness and discomfort: Changes in Oestrogen levels can cause discomfort. 💤 Sleep problems: Insomnia or restless nights due to hormonal imbalances. 😤 Mood changes: Increased anxiety, irritability, or depression may arise. 📈 Weight gain & slowed metabolism: Metabolism changes can make weight management challenging. 😶🌫️ Memory and concentration issues: "Brain fog" or trouble focusing. 💪🏻 Bone density loss & joint/muscle pain: Hormonal changes can affect bone and joint health. How Physiotherapy Can Help: A women’s health physiotherapist can address these symptoms and support your well-being with: 🧘🏽♂️ Musculoskeletal pain management: Tailored exercises to ease joint and muscle pain. 🙍🏻♀️Pelvic floor health: Strengthening pelvic muscles to prevent incontinence or discomfort. 🪑Posture and spinal health: Corrective exercises to maintain alignment and reduce back pain. 🦴 Bone health & osteoporosis prevention: Guidance on maintaining bone density through physical activity. 🥵 Hot flushes and night sweats management: Techniques to help regulate your body’s response. ⚖️ Weight management & cardiovascular health: Exercise plans designed to fit your needs, supporting heart health and metabolism. MSK Research 🔍 We recently reviewed a study that delved into the beliefs of both clinicians and patients regarding the use of diagnostic imaging for low back pain 🩻 Why is this important? 🧐 Understanding the beliefs of clinicians and patients about diagnostic imaging can help improve patient education. By informing patients about the potential benefits and risks of imaging, we can empower them to make informed decisions about their healthcare. It’s also important to optimise clinical practice, by recognising the potential biases in favour of imaging, healthcare providers can be more mindful of when it’s truly necessary and when other approaches might be more appropriate. Read more to see the findings…👀 You can read the full study here - https://lnkd.in/enj5tfWU Phin Robinson MCSP Adam Davies Andrew Hubbert Mehmet Gem Sedisha Brink Jon Edmondson Lauren Greenwood-Davies Luke Hedley Jack Banfield Ben Bradford Ed Fijalkauskas Lee McFarland Tom Stedman Kevin Tao

Great day yesterday supporting Holly Corrigan at the first Pain Cafe in Sevenfields Primary Care Network! It was inspiring to see people come together, sharing success stories and leaning on each other for support. One highlight was a guest finishing the session with some amazing line dancing and getting everybody involved! Yesterday showed that Pain Cafes can be an excellent space for individuals to share their experiences and strategies for managing pain, as well as meeting others in the community. A huge shout out to Holly for her exceptional work in organising the event, and to Elena for helping us set up in the lovely cafe. Looking forward to the next one! 🌟 A Fantastic Day of Learning and Collaboration! 🌟   One of our brilliant FCP Team Leads, Latika Sethi, recently attended a fantastic PLT event organised by South Leicester Medical Group. It was especially exciting as Billesdon Surgery joined the PLT for the first time! Both practices are part of the Cross Counties PCN, led by Natalie Wall, making this event even more special. With a great turnout of around 50-70 clinical and non-clinical staff, we had some insightful talks on #Insomnia and #AtrialFibrillation.   Latika had the opportunity to connect with the incredible staff, discussing their thoughts, ideas, and concerns about referring patients to our services. It was great to clarify processes, promote our work, and answer many important questions! 💡   Another highlight was meeting the team from Active Together Harborough, exploring the fantastic programmes they offer for our patients, and exchanging valuable ideas for the future.   Together, we are making a difference! 💡👥    #HealthcareCollaboration #FCP #PLT #PatientCare #Teamwork #CrossCountiesPCN #ActiveTogether #PCN #FCP
