MSK research 🔍 This week we reviewed some research about the impact of exercise on musculoskeletal pain and disability in the postpartum period. The transition to motherhood is a profound physical and emotional journey. During this period the body undergoes significant changes that can lead to persistent discomfort and limitations. We know that many new mothers experience musculoskeletal issues such as back pain, pelvic girdle pain, and diastasis recti, which can significantly impact their quality of life. Our review found several key insights 🔑 ⚡️ Postpartum Lumbopelvic Pain (LBPP) is prevalent and impactful: Many women experience musculoskeletal pain, particularly LBPP, after childbirth, and this pain can significantly impact their quality of life. 🎯 Targeted exercise can alleviate LBPP: Postnatal exercise, especially trunk strengthening, is associated with a reduction in LBPP symptoms and related disability. 📝 Individualised exercise programmes are crucial: Effective postnatal exercise should be tailored to each woman's specific needs, preferences, and pain type, and may benefit from a multifaceted approach. Don't forget all our MSK bulletins are available to read on our Pure Unity Health website, with new reviewed studies added weekly - check them out below 👇 https://lnkd.in/eAzHuzVJ #Postpartum #Exercise #Research #CPD

Happy Social Prescribing Day! 🎉🌍 Today, we’re celebrating the incredible impact of social prescribing—a personalised, holistic approach that connects people with community-based support to improve their health and wellbeing. 💙 Not all health concerns can be solved with medicine alone. Issues like loneliness, financial stress, and poor housing can deeply affect wellbeing. That’s where social prescribing comes in—linking people to essential services such as housing, financial and welfare advice, and community activities that make a real difference. 🏡💰🧘♂️ For GPs and primary care teams, social prescribing is a game-changer—reducing pressure on clinical services while ensuring patients receive the right support for their social, emotional, and practical needs. By integrating with local community services, we help patients build lasting resilience, gain greater independence, and improve their quality of life. This approach also leads to fewer GP appointments, hospital admissions, and A&E visits. (National Academy of Social Prescribing, 2024) ✨ Social prescribers are particularly valuable for those who: ✅ Have one or more long-term conditions ✅ Need support with low-level mental health issues ✅ Face complex social challenges affecting their wellbeing Swipe through below to see what some of our Social Prescribers, Kady and Sonia, love about their role and why it’s so important for patients👇 If you’d like to learn more about our social prescribing service, reach out to Adam Davies or email us at fcp@purephysiotherapy.co.uk. 📩 #SocialPrescribingDay #SocialPrescribingDay2025 #SocialPrescribing #PersonalisedCare #Wellbeing #HealthCoaching #PrimaryCare #PrimaryCareSupport

Yesterday marked the third month since Emily Chatterton and I launched the Pain Cafe in collaboration with Nuneaton and Bedworth PCN. It has been an immense pleasure to witness the remarkable growth of this incredible group. Every time I interact with these individuals, I am consistently impressed by their strength and resilience as they navigate the complexities of chronic pain. Observing the group share stories and seek inspiration is truly a pleasure. It is a privilege to be a part of fostering this supportive community. On today’s national #SocialPrescribersDay2025 I would also like to express my deepest gratitude to both Karen Ashby and Jessica Hinch for their unwavering support in the development and operation of the café. Our combined expertise in pain management, coupled with their commitment to creating safe and inclusive community groups, is making this collaborative project truly extraordinary. Thank you both so much! #PainManagement #HealthandWellbeing Pure Physiotherapy Pure Unity Health Group Adam Davies Alison Hood
