The Mountain People.

About us

Rab specialise in making rugged, high-performance mountain clothing and equipment. Nothing fancy or over-engineered – just honest hard working pieces that you’d rather repair than replace. More than 30 years since our founding our products have evolved but our core values have remained the same. Our inspiration still comes from the mountains we climb and the friendships we forge along the way. From the people who design, make and test each item, to those that have grown up loving and wearing Rab. These are the stories and experiences that make us unique, the ones we write every time we step outside. Rab's journey is your story and ours. #WeAreRab

Our waterproof technologies are changing, and so is their aftercare.   Last week we joined Cathy Casey and Wayne Singleton on the Outdoor Gear Chat podcast, to discuss the changes in waterproof fabrics seen throughout the outdoor industry- and what that means for product use and care.   As the industry continues to move away from PFAS use in DWRs (Durable Water Repellents), the way we care for our products must change.   We explain the background, how the new fabrics will work differently, and why they will need to be washed and re-proofed more frequently- so that your favourite products can continue to keep you dry for years to come.   🔉 You can listen to the podcast here… https://lnkd.in/eQJnFQe7

Making mountains more accessible to the younger generation. We've partnered with the Jonathan Conville Memorial Trust, a UK-based charity dedicated to introducing young people to climbing and mountaineering. Training them in the skills and techniques required to safely advance to Alpine or Scottish winter environments. Jon Frederick, Marketing Director at Rab, added: “We are excited about our new partnership with the JCMT. At Rab, we strongly believe in the mountains as a space that can empower young people, creating long-lasting memories and providing important skills not only for safe climbing and mountaineering but also for confidently tackling life's challenges. In the JCMT, we have found an excellent partner who shares our values.” We're excited to commence our support with the 2025 JCMT courses, now open for applications. Experts in care and repair. "I’ve been trying really hard to repair and keep on using my old kit, rather than replace it, but it’s been testing my (very limited) sewing skills - so it’s fantastic to have been offered a pro repair." - Rab athlete and mountain guide, Libby Peter. No prizes for guessing which type of apple Libby favours as a crag snack! Whether you prefer a colourful Second Stitch mend, or a more subtle near-invisible fix, our Service Centre is here to keep your gear in action, for longer. "You can be out and about in our beautiful landscape right up to high alpine terrain. The distances and altitude metres you can cover in a day are fascinating." Having lived his whole life in Neustift in the Stubai Valley, Rab athlete Christian Stern has dedicated himself to ultra trail running through the region since 2017. Christian currently has his sights set on the Kalkkögeltrail in September. "The route is unique and I really like the trail. When you have such a beautiful route on your doorstep, you don't have to travel far to run a race. The home crowd and many familiar faces are further reasons why I am looking forward to the Kalkkögeltrail." 📷 Christopher Rossiwall #TheMountainPeople #WeAreRab

We’re proud to be recognised as a Fair Wear Foundation Leader Brand for the third year in a row! This achievement is a testament to the long-standing relationships we hold with our suppliers. We go beyond what’s expected; supporting partners where needed, remediating where required, and enabling investment in workforce and facilities. We are dedicated to improving working conditions for the people making our products and continue to increase scrutiny on Human Rights Due Diligence and transparency within our operations. This year we published our Sourcing Principles, Responsible Business Conduct Policy and a Human Rights Due Diligence Policy together externally for the first time. Our work with Fair Wear is just one piece of a wider agenda to build on our heritage and grow our business the right way.
