🎊 Children's Competitions - Winner Showcase 🎊 We are excited to announce the winners and runners-up of our Children’s Colouring Competition. It’s never too early to start building a culture of safety together, and we’re thrilled by the fantastic participation in this contest. A big congratulations to all the children who took part in our Rail Safety Week 2024 Children’s Competitions, and special applause to our winners! At the weekend, Rony R. and I, representing the Young Rail Professionals (YRP) East Midlands, had a fantastic day supporting Jemma S. at Rail Forum, to promote Rail Safety week 🦺 We were located at Derby railway station giving out free story and adventure books, and colouring and crossword competitions for children to help promote safety around the railway. It is so important to engage younger generations in the importance of rail safety and it was great to be able to do this through chatting to passengers at the station and providing free safety story books for younger children 📖 #RSW24 #BuildingSafetyTogether #YoungRailProfessionals

🚄 Enhancing safety for railway workers As we come to the end of Rail Safety Week, it is crucial that we reflect on current fugures that highlight the need to ensure safety of railway workers.  The data from the Annual Health & Safety Report 2022/23 highlights a concerning trend. It indicates that while there have been efforts to improve safety for rail workers, the current levels show the need for continuous improvement. The report underscores several critical areas contributing to safety incidents, including communication issues, training, and equipment. This depicts a much bigger issue that needs to be tackled: the multifaceted nature of safety challenges in the railway sector. This is where digital technology comes into play. By leveraging digital solutions, such as Yokogawa's RAP4 software, companies can proactively address the factors contributing to near misses and create a significantly safer working environment and enable a culture of safety excellence. Rail safety week came to a close this week at Birmingham New Street Station. It was fantastic to work with collegeues from various parts of the railway network along with talking and meeting lots of commuters during the day to spread the rail safety message. With the event being at Birmingham New Street Station it also gave me the opportunity to invite one of our trainborne teams to help give out free merchandise and talk to commuters.
