Does the new Autumn Budget ‘fix the foundations’ of the UK, and what provisions does it make for improving workplace health? Chancellor Rt Hon Rachel Reeves first budget made employers bear much of the financial burden for providing the conditions for the UK’s economic growth. In the long-awaited budget focused on how to backfill a £22bn shortfall in funding that changes the rules on public borrowing, the focus was always going to be how to achieve this while waking the UK’s economy up from the past decade’s sluggish economic growth and productivity. Yet its measures seek to benefit individuals, boost near-term growth and shore up efforts to safeguard workplace wellbeing and inclusion. Ruth Holmes explores the reactions to the budget and its provisions for workplace health from leaders across the UK. Thanks to ben willmott, the CIPD’s head of public policy, Nick Pahl, CEO of Society of Occupational Medicine, Karl Bennett, wellbeing director at Perkbox Vivup and UK chair of the employee assistance body, EAPA and Janine Chidlow, EMEA managing director at outsourced recruiter WilsonHCG for their insights. https://lnkd.in/eUkRxZdy #workplacehealth #wellbeing #ukbudget #ukeconomy

With some DEI programmes coming under fire in the US and with hirings dropping in the UK, is it time to rethink the best way to approach diversity, equity, inclusion and women in the workplace? The largest recent corporate study by McKinsey into women at work in corporate America urges employers to keep going on their inclusion initiatives – or jeopardise the last decade’s “fragile” gains. The Women in the Workplace research reflects on the notable gains women have made—and how their experiences at work are, in many ways, the same or worse than ten years ago. But a new study by Kristin Kelley, Lena Hipp and paula protsch at the WZB Berlin Social Science Center and the University of Cologne is a useful starting point for understanding why conversations around DEI have become more polarised, and how we can continue to support the growth of a more equal and inclusive talent pipeline. Read our latest feature with insights from Relocate Global’s Ruth Holmes and Angela Cooke, head of diversity, inclusion and wellbeing, is now also appointed to Allinial Global inaugural DEI advisory board. https://lnkd.in/eNVQvnCG #dei #thinkwomen #diversity #equity
