Our OET Europe, Middle East, and Africa team had a truly inspiring experience at the EALTHY 2024 conference. It was a fantastic opportunity to connect with global OET Test preparation partners and exchange ideas on how to further support healthcare professionals in their English language journeys. OET Education Specialist, Joanne Bass, spoke about the significant impact the OET Test has on healthcare professionals’ careers, emphasising the crucial role that teachers play in helping candidates succeed. The team also attended insightful sessions on medical English, gaining valuable insights into the evolving needs in this field. A highlight of the event was hearing from refugee support groups RefuAid and REACHE, who shared their inspiring work helping displaced healthcare workers overcome linguistic and professional challenges to rebuild their careers. For those interested in becoming an OET teacher, the team is excited to share that OET’s official teacher training program has been updated. The free training includes refreshed content, lesson plans, and practical guidance specifically tailored for teaching the OET Test—an excellent opportunity to further develop teaching skills. 📝 Sign up: https://lnkd.in/gdAUwNBG

Helping frustrated GenX women plot their escape from unsatisfying jobs by figuring out their mission and finding the confidence to make it happen | Join my 'missions: accepted' group coaching programme | £595 lifetime|
This story has me in tears for so many reasons. (I cry at happy things by the way!) - A complete tragedy has been turned into a story of hope for 19 women - The Linda Norgrove Foundation has overcome so many obstacles to make it happen - The incredible perseverance of these women to complete their education and carry out their profession - We will hopefully have 19 more doctors in the world - I imagine these women will either stay in the UK and serve our community with their valuable skills for many years, or be in a position to return to Afghanistan and improve the lives of untold numbers of people over their careers - Goodwill, determination, collaboration, and a surprisingly small amount of money was able to make this happen This is what I want to see more of in the world; people identifying a problem that needs to be solved and coming up with practical, creative ways to get it sorted. The parents of Linda Norgrove found their mission. They made it happen. The world is a slightly better place because of it. Imagine if we all did that.

We’re pleased to share our latest annual report with you! Within the report, we take a tour across the UK and highlight key moments from our work in 2023: 📝 In England, we partnered with trusts to enhance their induction programmes for doctors from overseas, helping them to settle into their new working environment and develop good relationships with colleagues. 📝 In Northern Ireland, we launched our professional safety and behaviours workshop, empowering doctors to confidently address unprofessional behaviours. 📝 In Wales, we have become compliant with the new Welsh language standards, meaning that a greater number of our services and resources are now available in Welsh. 📝 In Scotland, we celebrated the twentieth anniversary of the establishment of our Edinburgh office, marking two decades of our team’s close collaboration with all aspects of Scotland’s health service.
