Today #NoSmokingDay and there has never been a better time to stop smoking. At Reed Wellbeing, we deliver six stop smoking services around the country, including in Leeds, Stoke-on-Trent, Essex, Norfolk, and London. These services support thousands of people to stop smoking or reduce the harm caused by tobacco use each year by providing evidence-based behavioural support following the latest National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) and National Centre for Smoking Cessation and Training (NCSCT) guidelines, with the effective use of stop smoking medications and peer support. In our services, we work hard to prioritise populations who may be less able to access health and wellbeing support and those who may benefit most from stopping smoking. Through its delivery of the NHS Diabetes Prevention Programme (NDPP), our Reed Wellbeing division has been supporting people to reduce their risk of developing Type 2 diabetes since 2016. Reed Wellbeing is making use of advances in AI technology to help more people to reduce their risk of developing Type 2 diabetes. Today, our Reed Wellbeing Divisional Director, Nick Hughes, considers how combining AI with our expert, in-house contact centre has added value and enhanced diabetes prevention for those accessing our service.
