  • BREAKING: Today the Labour Government announced their new Border Security, Asylum and Immigration Bill. Keir Starmer said he wants to tackle the problems in our asylum system but Labour’s new bill will do NOTHING to address the root causes of forced displacement. • The Safety of Rwanda Act has BEEN SCRAPPED 👏 Survivors suffered needlessly under the threat of being sent to an unsafe country, and the harm it had on their mental health is impossible to imagine. • On this #HolocaustMemorialDay, we remember the 6 million Jewish people, alongside millions of other marginalised groups, who were murdered by the Nazis. Many Holocaust survivors endured torture, and as quoted by Auschwitz survivor and philosopher Jean Amery, "Whoever was tortured, stays tortured", highlighting the long-lasting impacts it leaves. Today marks 80 years since Auschwitz was liberated making this quote particularly poignant. After supporting Holocaust survivors herself, 40 years ago, Helen Bamber founded Freedom from Torture to help survivors from across the world. So today, we send a reminder that torture is always wrong and that Freedom from Torture remains committed to fighting for a world free from torture.
