Renewi invests millions in a new, efficient and safer jetty for ATM. The construction of a new jetty at our ATM site in Moerdijk in the Netherlands is not only an important step in the execution of Renewi's objective to strengthen ATM's position but also increases efficiency and safety. ‘Our priority within Renewi's strategy is to optimise our portfolio,’ says Bruno Bruins, Chief Strategy Officer at Renewi. ‘An important part of this is the further strengthening of ATM. These investments provide a strong foundation for growth in our water and soil remediation business and we continue to explore opportunities for further optimisation in order to strengthen ATM's position.’ ‘As Havenbedrijf Moerdijk, we welcome this new jetty,’ said CEO Paul Dirix. ‘More sustainable options for waterborne transport will help us as Port of Moerdijk to contribute to the ‘modal shift’ and sustainability of logistics. Today we released our Q1 trading update for the three months ended 30 June 2024. Our CEO Otto De Bont had the following to say "we continue to deliver on our strategic objectives of portfolio optimisation strengthening our platform and accelerating organic growth. Throughout the quarter we continued to see the benefits of our Simplify programme, which is helping to continually drive improved performance and efficiency. We’re all through! As of today, we are living on credit. ♻️ We consume more resources than our planet can produce in a year and generate more waste than the earth can process. Today is "Earth Overshoot Day." This means that for this year, we have reached the maximum our planet can handle or produce without depleting its reserves. 🌎 Year after year, we become greedier. The last time we needed just one planet to meet our consumption was in 1970. Structural changes in our production and consumption patterns are necessary to turn the tide. One of those things, for example, is giving used materials a new life. Transforming waste into low-carbon circular materials reduces our ecological footprint. The scarcity of resources emphasizes the urgency of a circular economy, where recycling and ambitious, consistent legislation are crucial. Let’s move forward together in circularity. Bridging the gap between waste and product for end-of-life plastics : Pioneering collaboration between Renewi and Freepoint Eco-Systems 🤝🌍 Renewi and Freepoint Eco-Systems announce their intention to collaborate on a long-term and strategic cooperation aiming to build new waste plastic sorting and treatment infrastructure. This sorting facility will be aimed at supplying 80,000 tonnes of feedstock for Freepoint Eco-Systems’ first European advanced recycling facility to be located at the Kluizendok site in Ghent, Belgium. By diverting end-of-life plastics that would otherwise be incinerated, this project bridges the gap between waste and products. This collaboration between Renewi and Freepoint Eco-Systems represents a significant step in the waste treatment chain and a major development in Europe’s circular economy.
