About us
Rescape has a mission to: -Deliver immersive solutions that deliver significant patient, health economics and equality benefits. -Give every patient in hospital care access to their own VR headset. -Give every patient outside hospital the opportunity to utilise VR care. -Make VR empathy and experience training normal business practice. Rescape’s first product - the now medical device DR.VR® is being used within the NHS, Care Homes and Hospices. DR.VR® is a virtual reality distraction therapy solution that primarily supports pain relief, anxiety/stress and improves patient’s experience. The modular DR.VR® platform is flexible, supporting multiple care and therapeutic pathways including being used within ICU reducing pain, anxiety and assisting in the recovery of patients. The iteration DR.VR® Junior is designed for Paediatric departments and is being used with leading UK Children’s hospitals. The DR.VR® platform is designed to be simple and straightforward to implement even with no prior VR experience. During the pandemic Rescape developed DR.VR® Frontline with a targeted outcome of reducing anxiety of NHS frontline staff. Following a successful feasibility study commercial sales of DR.VR® are now underway. DR.VR® has also been shown delivering a cost effective training solution into the care and blue light services. Rescape is currently focusing on driving adoption within care pathways that can benefit from the impact that DR.VR® can make today and collaborations that build on the DR.VR® platform and technology for future patient benefits tomorrow.

What's the role of impact investment and innovation in cancer care, and how can we finance it? Total pleasure to chair this discussion last night and thank you to our panellists Joe Stringer, Umaima Malik Ahmad, Tej Panesar, Prof Richard Simcock and innovators Stephen Towe, Dr Antony Rix and Kevin Moss for being part of Macmillan Cancer Support's latest Green Room event to discuss how we revolutionise cancer care, as we launch Macmillan's new Frontier Funders Club. We discussed: The importance of putting COMPASSIONATE CARE at the heart of innovation. “Time right now is the most precious resource there is in the health service. So innovations that allow us to deliver this – the high quality promise of modern therapies but keeping it compassionate – are really essential” Professor Richard Simcock, Chief Medical Officer, Macmillan Cancer Support The critical role of PATIENT INVOLVEMENT in designing innovation: “The feedback of the Macmillan innovation community throughout that journey – in making small changes to sort of things like what colour the product should be, the shape of it, what doesn't feel like a hospital at home, what can I carry around and take out in front of my friends without feeling like, you know, I'm a patient. That's been that's been key to our journey” Umaima Ahmad, CEO, 52North (creators of Neutrocheck) And the importance of DESIGNING FOR EQUITY - so that we 'design out' inequalities rather than 'designing them in'. These are all core parts of MACMILLAN'S INNOVATION IMPACT INVESTMENT PORTFOLIO - identifying impact-led investment opportunities, ensuring the participation of people living with cancer in design, providing connections to clinicians, bringing test, challenge and routes to scale to innovation. “Sometimes now it's less about eureka moments, it's more investing in teams that understand their market have the commercial skills and the understanding and the appetite. The real challenge in this sector is go-to-market" Joe Stringer, venture capital investor & former Head of Healthtech, Octopus Ventures “If you roll forward 10 years and imagine that maybe Macmillan is sitting there with a massive exit, capital to recycle into more investing into the space, an expert team that's known both for its investing and nuance and capabilities, as well as its focus on impact. Saving money - that's something I hear often when it comes to #VR in #Healthcare. Rescape Innovation Ltd has build the Dr.VR app (running on our #PICO enterprise headsets) to reduce cost, but even more to reduce #anxiety and #pain in patients. I know I post about this use quite a lot, but I continue to be baffled by the positive impact such a simple use case can have and so is the Birmingham Children’s Hospital. A very simple and hard-hitting example of how Leeds Children’s Hospital, and their patients, are using DR.VR to improve patient’s experience. “I know it's going to be so much more of a positive experience for me and with this being a long-term treatment it would just be so beneficial” There is a shift in usage with VR becoming everyday as staff become more confident in deployment and its success. https://bit.ly/3IiytVW
