📢 NEWS: INDUSTRY BACKS UK ENERGY STORAGE PLANS The renewables industry has given thumbs up to the UK government’s proposal to help build energy storage infrastructure, including the first significant long duration energy storage facilities in nearly 40 years. Describing it as “a major win for its members and the wider industry”, the Association of Renewable Energy and Clean Technology (REA) welcomed Department for Energy Security and Net Zero announcement that a ‘cap and floor’ scheme will be implemented to attract investment in long-duration energy storage. “RheEnergise welcomes the support scheme announced today by the UK government to attract investment in renewable energy storage. In particular, we are pleased to note a stream dedicated to new innovation technologies, like our High-Density Hydro solution. We anticipate that under a cap and floor mechanism, our particular type of long-duration energy storage will be financed and built in the UK, providing a highly cost-effective alternative to traditional pumped hydro energy storage and other forms of storage – such as liquid air energy storage, compressed air energy storage and flow batteries.” Stephen Crosher, CEO of RheEnergise #energystorage #energytransition #netzero #ldes via reNEWS - Renewable Energy News https://lnkd.in/eHKB2Mf9
About us
RheEnergise is bringing fresh innovation to the world’s dominant form of storage: pumped hydro storage. We call our solution High-Density Hydro®. HD Hydro® uses our proprietary HD Fluid R-19 which has 2.5x the density of water. It is environmentally benign, non-toxic, non-corrosive, and non-reactive. R-19 gives RheEnergise projects 2.5x the power and 2.5x the energy when compared to water. Unlike traditional pumped hydro energy storage, HD Hydro can operate using smaller hills as opposed to needing mountains. As a result, it opens up vastly more options in terms of potential sites. The technology is sized in the range of 10MW to 50MW, and 20MWh to 100MWh. HD Hydro is the best option for meeting society’s energy storage needs; compared to the competition it is agile and fast to deploy, massively scalable, has low impact, low cost, and low risk. RheEnergise consists of a highly experienced team with a strong track record in renewable energy, engineering, finance and bringing innovation to market.

With the increased deployment of renewables, stabilising the grid is of paramount importance. The National Energy System Operator is considering various ways to minimise the risk of disruption as the power system goes carbon-free. In today’s Telegraph, Jonathan Leake reported that NESO is considering the use of flywheels for energy storage to support the UK’s future energy system. Flywheels are not the only storage technology worth considering. New LDES technologies must be more attractive than the dominant solution for flexible, dispatchable power (natural gas generation) and must be low-cost, locationally flexible and scalable as well as low carbon. RheEnergise is developing a Long Duration Energy Storage solution, with support from Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, that we call HD Hydro. We are currently building our small scale demonstrator project in Devon. Visit our website to find out more. https://lnkd.in/eEktXxcp #energystorage #energytransition

A historical day, Britain just shut down its last coal-fired power station marking the END of electricity generation from COAL after 142 years.
This is the moment Ratcliffe power station came off the electricity system for the final time, marking the end of 142 years of coal generating electricity in Great Britain!

Have you been to Juliette Devillard's Climate Connection event before? Earlier this week our CEO, Stephen Crosher, had the opportunity to present our HD Hydro solution to their community. If it's not on your radar yet, here's your invite to sign up to the next one.
Thank you to Climate Connection and Juliette Devillard for the opportunity to introduce RheEnergise our HD Hydro energy storage solution. It was a packed room, full of enthusiastic minds eager to learn about innovative startups and their journey to commercialisation. Thank you to the hosts, Sustainable Ventures and to the other speakers, Dini McGrath of the The Wonki Collective and Agnes Czako of AirEx Technologies - Smart Draught Control, for their thought provoking presentations. Events like these are worth attending for the community and shared vision of what change can look like. #climatepositive #energytransition #innovation

✔ Factory Acceptance Test passed with flying colours! Take a look at the HD Power Conversion System for our demonstrator project in Devon. To follow the project progress, please sign up to our newsletter. #energystorage #HDHydro
HD Power Conversion System is ready! If you've been following our posts, you know RheEnergise are hard at work bringing our first HD Hydro® demonstrator to life. A key element is the HD Power Conversion System. This 500kW variable frequency system is built using Danfoss Drives Vacon NXP drives, includng a 500kW AFE grid-side inverter and two 500kW inverter units (one for the HD Turbine and another for the pump). The cabinet build, also integratng the liquid cooling system, has been expertly executed by VEO Group in Finland. Talk about a smooth operation! Many thanks to our friends at Danfoss, and in particular Steve Moore and Paul Carter, who sheparded us through the whole design process. The assembly passed its Factory Acceptance Test with flying colours and is now being shipped to our project site! The next time you see this beauty it will be during installed at our site in Devon.

Today is #WorldEnergyStorageDay. We're so excited to show you our latest images from the demonstrator site in Devon. Our HD Hydro solution is a closed-loop system where the fluid tanks and penstocks are buried underground. This images below show how we plan to replant and reintroduce flora to the landscape after building works have been completed. #WESD2024 #energystorage #HDhydro

A motivating speech by the Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero that highlights the essential role renewables play in the energy transition. Every new wind turbine and every new solar panel must have #energystorage as part of the mix.
"Every wind turbine we put up, every solar panel we install, every piece of grid we construct protects families from future energy shocks.” 🎥 Watch Energy Secretary Ed Miliband reflects on the challenges and opportunities of the clean energy transition at the Energy UK Annual Conference. #EUKconf24
