  • Great to be featured on Radio 2 this week by Martin Roberts - Property Expert from Homes under the Hammer no less! (🔊skip to 1hr 41mins) https://lnkd.in/g5U4GN-D Martin was responding to recent press attention about a court case in Kensington about noise from neighbours, and advised one solution can be to install ROCKWOOL insulation in the voids between rooms or floors of adjoining properties. Noise like this might seem more of an irritation than a serious concern, but for many people this is a huge problem and it’s growing. Nationwide residential noise causes the largest number of noise complaints to councils with the average LA receiving 1,044[1], whilst in larger cities like Manchester, numbers of complaints each year can be over 3,000[2]. Evidence also shows that unwanted noise can cause stress and contribute to a variety of physical and mental health conditions [3], so it’s important for our well-being to reduce noise and absorb sound to create more comfortable, healthier indoor spaces. At ROCKWOOL UK, we create products which mitigate the impact of noise as part of a well-designed built environment. The choice of material in a building can make a significant difference to the experience of noise from internal and external sources. If you want to find out more about what materials would be right for your project, check out some of the technical resources available on our website, including our Acoustic Calculator. • ICYMI - Noise a key concern for Mancunians buying or renting a property Our cities are getting noisier and people are becoming increasingly aware of the detrimental impacts on their mental and physical well-being. Investing in the fabric of UK’s buildings is critical to reducing the effect of noise pollution and creating the healthy homes necessary to significantly improve people’s lives. Getting the insulation, materials, and design choices of a house right are important decisions that can improve people’s quality of life, reducing not only noise pollution but also improving warmth, comfort and fire safety. At ROCKWOOL UK, we want to understand just how much noise is impacting UK citizens and raise awareness of the available solutions such as installing insulation with good acoustic performance as part of any new build or retrofit work. That’s why we polled residents across Greater Manchester’s ten districts – to find out the level that urban inhabitants are affected by unwanted external noise. We found that noise is impacting everything from property choices to health and well-being, with over half of those polled raising concerns about increased stress, anxiety, and depression as a result of noise pollution. Ensuring the new National Model Design Code, and the building regulations, take action on noise in our homes would be a big step to making sure the right materials are used in future developments. • Too much noise, whether it comes from outside a building or within it, can have a significant negative impact on people’s health and wellbeing. Stone wool building insulation and acoustic solutions on ceilings and walls can make a big difference to the comfort of an indoor space by keeping unwanted sound out and helping make voices and other sounds we do want to hear, clearer. https://lnkd.in/gMvhXvex
