Another day, another factory tour...👏 This week, the RBL team hosted VINCI Building UK (VB) for a presentation and tour round our precast manufacturing and rig build facility. The presentation explored the sustainable benefits of our piling systems as well as the benefits of using RBL's Continuous Helical Displacement (CHD) pile in comparison to a Continuous Flight Auger (CFA) pile. #RBNorthEast adapted to challenging ground conditions at a #residential site in Eggborough to deliver the most efficient and cost-effective piling solution for Taylor Wimpey plc! Initial concerns over sand bands led the team to install Driven Steel Tubular Piles while trialling Driven Precast Concrete Piles to assess their viability. During the first visit, the team installed over 130 No. Driven Steel Tubular Piles. At the same time, RBL carried out a trial with 5 No. Driven Precast Concrete Piles, all of which successfully reached a suitable depth of 10.0m. Converting steel piles to precast piles will provide our client with considerable cost savings. Three plots close to existing properties will require Continuous Flight Auger (CFA) piles to mitigate potential impact. The project has utilised a range of techniques to provide the most cost-effective and technically correct solution for the prevailing ground conditions and surrounding environment. Happy #NationalEngineeringMonth! 🎉 Kev Browning, Piling Manager, and Jack Gardner, Operations Manager did the RBL team proud by sharing their engineering expertise, delivering a webinar to over 250 delegates diving into to the finer details of our flagship project, Yarm Viaduct.👏 Kev joined RBL in 2004 with an Engineering degree, starting as a Contracts Engineer and working his way up the ladder. Now, as Piling Manager, he ensures our #RBNorthEast piling projects run smoothly, delivering value-engineered solutions to our clients. He pursued a career in Engineering as it offers a mix of creativity, technical skills, and problem-solving! Jack’s engineering journey began at Teesside University where he earned his Civil Engineering degree. He joined RBL in 2015 as a Graduate Engineer, spending three years gaining hands-on experience in piling, ground improvement, and foundation solutions. His passion for the geotechnical industry made it clear—this was the career path for him! 🚴♂️ Supporting Gareth Griffiths & Anthony Franklin on Their Tour de France Challenge! 🚴♂️ At RBL, we are incredibly proud to support two of our own, Gareth Griffiths and Anthony Franklin, as they take on the cycling challenge of a lifetime—all for a fantastic cause! They are both participating in #LeLoop (the official #TourdeFrance route) to raise money for the William Wates Memorial Trust. This amazing charity helps disadvantaged young people avoid crime and violence by funding life-changing projects in art, sport, and education. 🔥 The Challenge: 🚵 Gareth will be tackling 375km of brutal mountain stages in the Pyrenees. 🚴♂️ Anthony is going all-in, cycling the entire 3,320km Tour de France route, averaging 10 hours a day in the saddle!
