The Autumn has been fast paced and I finally managed to catch up with the RCSLT bulletin this weekend, and wow this has been one of the most nourishing bulletins for a very long time.
Some standout articles for me:
- Global majority Women leaders - this article resonated heavily with me. I see Angelin Peeris experiences, and I love their calls to action.
- The SLT team Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust have really smashed it out of the park with their deep dives into their service Anti-racist journey. Ariel Ramirez, Nicole Graham, Alejandra Gori Castiglioni, and Anna Wilson shared how conversations around race & health inequalities can be embedded into MDT, where being a bystander is no longer acceptable (or the norm). Ayman Jeraj and Dorett Davis generously shared their cross team approach to navigate the many steps, with humility and an appetite for learning. Lena Sakure shared ideas around a local walk which paves the way for conversations, otherwise unspoken. Katie Levy outlined how we ensure protocols for interpreters, are fit for purpose.
The Men in SLT group provided much needed illumination on the way men may choose a career.
Amit Kulkarni and Lotte Meteyard reminded all of us of the responsibility WE have to ensure we continue to embed Evidence based healthcare into our day to day practice. These critical skills are essential to provide safe and effective patient care.
The article which gave me much food for thought was the use of AI in SLT Jane Taylor-Brook and Dr Fiona Menger gave an great outline of the potential and consideration in this emerging field - I am personally very excited to see how our practice evolves with new tech.
Finally, how sustainable is our current way of work Milly Heelan, PhD, Dr Vishnu Nair, Dr Emma Pagnamenta and Kerry Cavanagh did a brilliant job to map the links between the SLT Profession and being a climate resistant workforce.
Truly excellent bulletin this quarter Royal College Of Speech and Language Therapists
I only have access to my own profession specifically bulletin, I wonder what the conversations are in fellow AHP professions?
