👍 Collaborative work at its best for such an important cause. Royal Papworth Hospital NHS Foundation Trust
612 people learnt the lifesaving skill of CPR thanks to Restart a Heart Day 2024. People of all ages came along to the team in Cambridge to learn the impact of CPR and how they can help their local community when an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest takes place. A special thank you to our incredible volunteers and event partners Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Royal Papworth Hospital Charity, East Anglian Air Ambulance East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust. As well as our Magpas Air Ambulance medics who came along to help too!

🙏 Thanks to our supporters, the Charity has been able to fund paper-based tools to improve the assessment of Royal Papworth Hospital NHS Foundation Trust patients with communication impairments. The hospital's Speech and Language Therapy team received funding for the Cognitive Linguistic Quick Test +, the Western Aphasia Battery-Revised bedside forms and the ABA-2: Apraxia Battery for Adults assessment tools. Sophie Ogilvie, Specialist Speech and Language Therapist says: “The assessments are an extremely important addition to our work with patients who can have a wide range of communication impairments due to a wide range of diagnosis.” “They allow us to identify patients who require support with their expressive and receptive language, reading, writing and allow us to plan targeted person-centred rehabilitation while people are with us at the hospital”. 👍 Go break that world record Alex!! And if you don't, it's still an amazing achievement to run Stevenage marathon today - three years after receiving open heart surgery at Royal Papworth Hospital NHS Foundation Trust If you would like to show your support for Alex and our Charity, please donate on his JustGiving page https://bit.ly/3YoorvA
🗞️ 𝐈 𝐦𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐢𝐭 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐩𝐚𝐩𝐞𝐫! 🗞️ The last time I was in the paper was over 20 years ago when I was (incorrectly!) captioned as being a young offender. Many thanks to everyone who has donated to my fundraiser for Royal Papworth Hospital Charity and otherwise supported my attempt to set a Guinness World Record this weekend. Conditions on Sunday are looking hideous but I'm not going to let that stop me! If anybody would still like to donate - https://lnkd.in/eX4R43Uh. Now for my favourite part of race prep - carb loading 🍝.

🔔𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠!🔔 On 20 October I shall be running the Stevenage marathon, and will be attempting to break the Guinness World Record for the fastest marathon by somebody with an artificial heart valve. The record currently stands at 3:51:00. I'm hoping to eventually run under 3 hours but it might not be this time (it turns out that Stevenage has some hills - who knew?). To mark my first marathon attempt I am raising money for the Royal Papworth Hospital Charity to help support the wonderful work that the Royal Papworth Hospital NHS Foundation Trust does (Just Giving link - https://lnkd.in/euTBUh6z). Every time I lace up my running shoes or chase my daughters around the garden I am grateful for the care they gave me and am reminded not to take good health (or life in general) for granted. I've probably droned on too much about my experiences in the past, but if you are able to donate anything to help this amazing charity I would be very thankful!
