About us

SAMH (Scottish Action for Mental Health) is Scotland's national mental health charity. With one in four of us experiencing a mental health problem each year, the work of SAMH is crucial to Scotland's well-being. We have been working to promote mental health in Scotland since 1923. Our services are built upon our belief that people with mental health problems should be ambitious about their futures. One of the ways we do this is by supporting people into work and in partnership with employers supporting workplace wellbeing initiatives. For more information on working with us please visit www.samh.org.uk or contact us at enquire@samh.org.uk. Thank you.

Why are women in leadership so important? 🤔 For Scottish Women & Girls in Sport Week 2024, we asked a few women involved in sport to share their thoughts. "It increases representation and allows women and girls voices to be heard where it matters most." 🧡 #SheCanSheWill

Challenging mental health stigma can often include little adjustments in your day. Try swapping out terms like ‘crazy’ or ‘mental’ with alternatives like ‘wild’ or ‘unbelievable’. It takes time to adjust, so don’t worry if you make mistakes!

Over half of young people are worried about rising costs impacting their families. We are working with our charity partners Mind and SAMH to improve mental health support and raise awareness of the links between money and mental health. 🗣️ We’re developing a specialist training programme for colleagues to help those facing money worries. 📚 We’ve launched a new signposting guide which shares the types of help mental health support available in the UK so our colleagues can best support our customers. ❤️ If you’re struggling, please reach out to our incredible charity partners for support https://lnkd.in/e5AQjMC7 Research carried out with 1,000 children aged 11-17 by OnePoll in August 2024.

Our Suicide Prevention team have been out supporting communities across Scotland! 💙 On #WorldSuicidePreventionDay, we delivered a record number of 'Introduction to Suicide Prevention' courses, as well as hosting events and stalls encouraging people to talk openly about suicide. We even trained a group of wild swimmers and joined them for a dip in the north sea after – how’s that for dedication?! 😅
